A small smattering of some of the quick digital landscape studies I've been doing to get a feel for certain arctic lighting schemes.

Thanks! I drew these ones from photographs spending about 22 minutes on each. The purpose being to get a feel for the landscape so that when I have to draw it from my head I'll have a better idea of how to make it look convincing. ;]
I did these digital because it's much easier to recreate colours and lighting in that medium. After a bunch of these I went ahead and started painting studies in watercolour and acrylic, keeping in mind what I learned from the digital sketches.

Excellent idea, getting a feel for studies such as landscapes and lighting really does help especially when you know for a fact that it's going to come into good use later on. And awesome job with going digital before digital. Definitely helps to give a good idea to what exactly you're going for before going traditional with it, from color palettes to even the process. Multimedia studying really helps, and this is proof
As I stated in your journal - I love your landscapes and must agree: if you ever plan to make a tutorial or to show WIPs or anything that helps to understand the way you build up a scenery like that I'm absolutely interested in seeing those :D *kitty waves with her fluffy tailtip*
damn, just went to the site, and I'm not going to lie.
This is by far the best constructed plot I've ever seen furry artists do.
The best constructed characters and conflicts.
For once in my life, I will actually read and enjoy a nicely put together anthro comic.
EVER.
That takes quite a bit to do, too.
I honestly congradulate you, what you have is great,
and could possibly become popular to the regular public as well,
or so I hope.
Good luck to you, and may you gather great success in the upcoming times!

They're wonderful. :D They're also inspiring....I suck at doing BG's. I like to get to the action. But "painting" (even digitally as well as traditionally) a lovely BG itself has MUCH merit. (In fact I'm a landscape nut myself. I just can't put down on WACOM or paper what I see or what's in my mind's eye. Pity.)
