==WARNING: LONG BACKSTORY POST==
"Observation Date: June 14th, 2852
Planet: Epsilon Moon: Oskali B
Sun: Barnard's Star
A new recruit herbalist named Rihos arrived today. He was one of four to come off the ship. It's nice to see new faces around here. He seemed excited to come here, but how could I blame him? Oskali B is a unique place. It orbits Epsilon at a slow pace, steady enough that it will never see the light of the Barnard's Star, always hidden in Epsilon's shadow. You'd think nothing would ever be able to live here. That we wouldn't have a purpose being here.
Somehow, things do live here. Plants and insect-like creatures which glow with bio-luminescence all call this moon their home. As we have observed, their glowing is like bright flowers on Earth. The brighter they glow, the more likely they will attract these "insects" to pollinate them. There's hundreds of different kinds on this moon. There are white ones that grow along the water, glowing mushrooms that make their home under rocks. There's even a kind that grows underwater. All of them are gorgeous, and they all do their part to keep this planet warm and hospitable.
I remember arriving here 35 years ago. I felt the same way Rihos is right now. He's sitting out in the field by the stream. He's been out there for hours, just leaning on a rock and staring at the sky. I remember doing that. I felt minuscule in the universe...but I felt comfortable. It was an eerie kind of solitude, and humbled wasn't a strong enough word to describe it."
There's my backstory for this. =3 It is my contest entry for
notveryathletic's sci-fi contest. After the success of my last sci-fi pic, I figured it was worth giving another shot. I like the idea behind this. Maybe not very plausible, but it was fun to paint. I love space. =D
I did this over the course of a few weeks, just like my last contest entry. I also plan on making a tutorial on how to make a galaxy in the sky like in this one. So keep a heads up for it. =3
Hope you guys like it! Wish me luck!
EDIT: Replaced with a brighter version.
EDIT2: I got fifth place in the contest! (out of 42 entries)
