Looks like I've become re-enamored with the beauties of pencil shading, especially as it pertains to backgrounds. I actually spent quite some time on this one, trying to get everything just so. I'm really pleased with how the rocks and the water looks, but the trees remind me rather a lot of haystacks on sticks...need to work on getting foliage to look right!

It looks like this kitty is drying up after a dip in the lake - is he preparing for another dip, or is he looking for...company?
