Basically he's the guardian for the family's collection of books. Everything they've taken notes on on plants, their studies with nature and poisons, and everything related to it is all kept in a special secluded place in which Turik lives. It's the passion and soul that everyone poured into their own notes, that manifest in a member of the Ricin family who they pick, so to speak, protect their family's works.
He only interacts with other members of the family through letters and when they arrive to deliver copies of their research books.

Due to the importance of his position, he gets the final say in any affairs of the family, even over the head branch.
