The Golden Tabby at the Dakota Zoo. Shortly after this, I crouched down and he walked right up to the window in front of me, batted the window almost playfully, stretched, and sat down. I've never interacted with a big cat so directly, from two or so feet away... very amazing experience.

I heard once from somebody who'd actually trained in handling big cats that tigers are almost like house cats, only bigger, smarter and more dangerous if not fed. They're curious, playful, even friendly in the right situation. I guess when you're that big you have room in your brain for high intelligence.
I really think this one was just curious and wanted to interact with someone for a while. Since I was crouched down and not doing the usual shaved monkey tricks, it might have felt I was more interesting and worth investigating. I'm still kind of sorry I didn't put a hand up against the window to see what he would do in reaction. Definitely one of those moments you don't forget, though. =)
