An impromptu pinup pic inspired this past weekend by something that caused a fit of giggles. Maybe it was that phrase up there Konani typed into his phone
No, I didn't mis-gender him, "Konani" (a unisex name of Hawaiian origin translating to "bright") is the latest character to join my roster, first appearing in December 2016. It's been several months since I made a color pic of him, and I felt I should revisit the design of this crossdressing bisexual bunny to keep it from drifting too far. Read the inspiration for this character here
The bulk of the humor in this pic comes from the oddball sentence (spoken in Japanese, hence the "<" and ">") coming from the machine translation of whatever it was he typed in (reminiscent of the infamous "I have a bad case of diahrrea" video). Knowing this character, it probably isn't far from the mark. He looks like he's trying to stifle a giggle, so chances are he knows exactly what he wanted it to say. If any Japanese speakers can provide a proper (non-machine) translation, I can re-upload this with the proper text (and the english version underneath)
Technical:
Not much to report as far as groundbreaking techniques or tactics. I inked and colored the original pencil sketch using Krita, performing some anatomical adjustments on the way. For the first time I made extensive use of the "mask+transform" tools to alter the shape and size of certain elements of the image. Notably, I slightly widened his thighs, corrected the shape of his right foot, and fussed with the toe caps of his uwabaki till I was satisfied with their shape. Once done with the shading and highlighting, I exported a PNG to Micrografx Picture Publisher to add the text, logo and word balloon, since Krita's text tools need a bit of work.
Pencil on bristol, digitally inked with Krita and exported to Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 for text. 14MB in Krita, 28MB in MPP.
