My Little Fallout
By Mad
This is fan made story of my OC in the fall out equestrian universe.
Prologue,
Life down in the Stables was ok I guess. My mother always told me stories of when she was young, running around in them having fun. I was still only a filly, so my mind was filled with dreams and wondering what the world outside was like, rather than enjoying the stable. I didn't have the same childhood as her. And for me, the outside seemed more fun.
My mother was a beautiful tall mare with a long flowy mane. She did trade for our Stable and was the only one brave enough to go outside. All the other ponies were Unicorns like my mother, and preferred the clean life of the Stable. She always loved the idea of the outside world though. So, when we needed to do trading with outsiders, she was the one to stand up to the challenge.
My father was a hired gun that our Stable had paid for. During his travels with my mother he soon fell in love with her, and helped to create me. My father was a strong Bat Pony with eyes so sharp I swore he could shoot anything. His dark purple coat made it easy for him to sneak around out at night, and his wings were so big I thought that he was a Dragon.
My father never stayed in the Stable with us, so I really stood out. My small Bat Pony body was strange to all the high and mighty Unicorns. They looked down on me as tainted and disgusting. I didn’t understand at first, but I soon realized that my small wings were nothing more than an eyesore for all of them. Their pure and perfect Stable was made unclean with me being born in it.
My appearance was revolting to them, though my mother told me I was beautiful. I was a tiny filly even for my age. My coat an almost violet purple, and my mane a mess of blue and sparkles. My wings were so small I couldn’t even fly. All I could do was glide. It’s not like there was much flying to do in the Stable anyway.
It was getting so close to the day that I finally got my Pip-Buck, and a job of my very own. I couldn’t wait to show them that I could be helpful. Though there wasn’t very much that they would trust me to do. I couldn’t just lift something with magic, and my body was so small they considered me useless.
My life was finally going to start and yet, it felt as though soon it would be much harder. When I went to receive my Pip-Buck, I looked over a saw my mother with such a worried face, and the Overmare staring right at me. My body shivered. “Why is it always me?” I thought in my head as I came into the room. Everyone stared at me as my mother came over and smiled, “Today’s the big day”, she said gently petting my messy mane.
I knew no one wanted me here but my mother. I also knew that none of them trusted me with a job. But I never thought that they really wanted me gone, until the Overmare came over and gave me my Pip-Buck, and the job that I would be stuck with the rest of my life.
“We have entrusted a great responsibility on you my little filly. You are to be a scavenger and go to the outside world and bring back what we need”, she said staring right in to my eyes, knowing she was sending me out to die. Me, a filly being sent out with no experience at all. I knew that they hated me, but to put me out there knowing I would most likely die? I truly understood at that moment. I was never welcome there.
My mothers’ eyes widened and filled with fear. “What do you mean?! She’s just a filly you can’t send her out there!” She screamed staring at the Overmare. “Don’t worry she’ll have her father out there, and you when you go out to trade”, She replied, looking back at my mother with a smile on her face.
She wanted me gone. Not just gone, she wanted me wiped out like the vermin I was. I looked down at my Pip-Buck and gulped. Soon, I would see the outside. Though for once, I wasn’t looking forward to it…
Chapter 1
Part 1
Goodbye Sweet Stable
My body won’t stop shaking. I’m standing at the door to the outside, and all I can do is think of what would be the thing to kill me. Would it be raiders, ghouls, sickness, maybe even just hunger? If I get lost out there, I will surely die. I can’t even keep my hooves still. I think I may just pee myself with all the fear building up in my poor filly body. I am too young for this, and they all know it. I’m going to die…
My mother put a hoof on my shoulder, “It’ll be ok. Your father will meet you out there”, she said looking sad. I wish she could come too, but the Overmare is forcing her to stay. My mother has so much faith in me, yet I know that she is only letting me go alone because my father is out there. I barely ever get to see him, so I am a little happy about that at least.
The Overmare steps over to the controls to the left. “It’s time to go my little filly”, she said looking as happy as ever. My mother stares at the controls as the Overmare types. Mother seems to be staring so intently at it, almost as though she is trying to remember the numbers. I didn’t really know why though. I know that the Overmare is the only one that has the password. But why does mother want to know? Wasn’t she already allowed outside during trades? The Overmare needs to keep us all safe. So, it makes sense that she would be the only one that knows it I guess. As the door opened, I couldn’t help but see my mother’s eyes. They seemed filled with so much hatred while looking toward the Overmare.
Light poured into the room. My mother’s hair sparkled from its radiance. I can’t help but be distracted by her beauty. Even if I am going to die soon, at least I got to see my mother in the light. My eyes started to burn from its intense brightness, and I couldn’t help but step back from it. “It’s so bright!” I cried out, while covering my eyes with my small hooves.
The door always scared me a bit. But this time, being so close, I can’t help but be terrified of it. “It was open… Actually open. And it was open for me”, I thought, staring toward the open door. I feel sick in my stomach just thinking of them kicking me out there, then shutting the door behind me. I don’t want to be stuck out there… Even if I’m hated in here, at least I’m safe.
The Overmare looked down at me. “It’s time for you to go now.” She said while smirking right at me. I walked slowly trod the door and took my first step out. “This is it… I’m going out of the stable.” I whispered to myself, looking down at the dirty ground in front of me. A bit of wind went through my main, and past my wings. It felt cold but my wings couldn’t help but to gently open. I felt this slight sense of belonging, as if my wings could just spread wide and take me away.
“Is this where I belong?” I thought as I took my next step forward, towards the outside world. “This is it... I’m going to die… well at least I’ll get to rot outside instead of inside I guess...”
I walked out one step at a time feeling my whole body shaking from the fear. “It’s ok, dad’s out here.” I picked up my head and looked behind me to see the door slowly closing. My mother’s eyes filled with fear, and the Overmare smiling with a hoof on my poor mother’s shoulder. “This is it. Say something. Scream to her! Tell her you don’t want to go!” I thought in my head… But nothing came out. I just stared as the door closed behind me.
Part 2
Locked Out
“Well I guess I better go dig my own grave.” I said as I was looking down not knowing what to do next. Only then did I remember the meeting point where I was finally going to be with my father. “Daddy!” I started to run out of the small ruined building where our stable was held, only to then be completely blinded by the light outside. “Aah! It’s even worse out here!” I screamed. I looked around once my sight finally came back to me. “So, this is what the outside looks like now? It’s not pretty like in the picture books of the past.” I started to look around completely forgetting what I was out here for. “Wow!” I screamed seeing a little bird flying around. “Wait, come back!” I said sadly as the bird flew out of sight. My ears drooped down. It was so pretty I hope I get to see more. I then sat there thinking of how it flew and how beautiful it was. Looking back at my own wings feeling worthless and weak. “It was so tiny like me so why can’t I fly?” I thought to myself, thinking even more about how its wings moved.
“Well I guess I could try…” I opened my wings and tried to mimic the way it moved, slowly flapping my wings. “What am I doing?” I said looking down at the ground. “I can’t fly it’s that simple... Wait, wasn’t there something I needed to do? Oh yeah, dad!” I screamed running off toward where I was to meet him. My heart pounding in my chest out of excitement. As I was running I saw in my peripheral, the little bird again. It was just sitting there looking at me. Its black wings twitching as it stared at me. In that moment I felt as though it was peering into my soul. It looked like it was waiting for a meal, and that I was the main course.
I stopped in fear looking at it. “Why won’t my body move? Why am I so scared? Dad’s right up ahead! What am I doing here frozen?” The image of the Overmare’s smile came back to me while looking at the bird. It reminded me of how she would look at me like a hungry animal that only wanted my death… I shook my head telling myself it was nothing. I can’t keep him waiting. I kept running as I thought about how odd it was that father couldn’t just meet me at the stable door. Only to then remind myself that it was to keep the stable from being found by any unwanted ponies.
“I’m here!” I screamed out happily jumping into the small little ruin where I was to meet father. “Were, is he?” I said looking around. “These are the right ruins, aren’t they? I thought Overmare said it was the closest ruin to the Stable? Daddy where are you!?” I screamed out, only to then be stopped by the sight of that bird again standing in front of me. As I looked down to it I then felt a sharp pain to my side. My ears began to ring as I fell over.
“What? What is this? What just…?” I thought to myself as l noticed a warm feeling coming out of my side. I slowly touched it with my hoof feeling something wet. I looked down to see nothing but red… “B-blood? I’m bleeding? But...” I thought before I was rushed by pain. My little body sat there twitching in agony, as I slowly fell into shock. “Fuck! WHY?! WHY?! It hurts! it hurts so much mommy! Mommy please, help!” I screamed out in my thoughts unable to speak, due to the pain. My eyes filled with tears as I slowly felt my limbs go numb. I looked up at the bird staring down at me. I am to be its meal… It’ll eat me, won’t it? I looked straight into its eyes, seeing the reflection of two ponies walking up to me. They were covered in strange clothes and had dried blood on them. “Oh, I see… those ass holes are the ones that shot me… Ha, I was right. I am to die out here.”
“I guess you’re getting what you always wanted dear Overmare. I’m dying here, and you’ll never have to see me ever again. I guess you must be pretty happy right now that I’m not there dirtying up your pure and wonderful stable. I wish I was born a unicorn like my mother or… I guess I would have preferred not being born at all.” I thought to myself as they got closer and my world slowly turned to black. I could hear them talking over me, their voices sounded rough and deep. “You, idiot! How are we supposed to sell it if it dies?! Damn it! You were just supposed to put the bat into shock!” One of the stallions said, while slowly picking up my small body with magic. “Don’t worry. It went right though. Plus, I didn’t hit the wings and that was the part they told us not to hurt.” The other stallion said, with a stuck up sounding voice. I listened as long as I could, but soon everything was dark. “Goodbye… Mother…” I thought as I finally drifted away.
Part 3
The Slave Trade
“I’m… I’m still alive?” I said waking up to a sharp pain in my side. I looked around, my eyes still blurry. I heard strange sounds all around me, and crying of other ponies. “Am I moving?” I felt like I was moving. The wood floor below me bumping me up and down. “Where…? Where am I?” I said trying to rub my eyes, but failed to keep my balance. “You’re on a slave train…” A small, sweet voice said from behind me. “A what?” I replied, looking to where the sweet voice came from. My eyes were finally clear, and the first thing I saw was a beautiful tan filly, all banged up, and missing her left front leg. She looked in pain like me, with blood stains still on her. I looked down at her other legs staring at the beautiful stripes going down them getting darker as they reached her hooves.” Slavers… Ponies who buy and sell other ponies. She said glaring at me with gorgeous green eyes that gradient down to blue. I stared at her, not hearing her words and only seeing her. “What are you?” I blurted out without thinking. She glared harder at me looking down. “I’m a zebra half-breed.” She said, looking sad as though she thought I was going to mock her. “Really? Wow you sure are pretty. I’ve never met anyone like you.” I said smiling trying to ignore the pain from my wound that was poorly banged up. “W…What?” She said looking back up at me in shock. I knew this wasn’t a time to flirt, but I just couldn’t help myself. Not when somepony so sad was just lying there in front of me, looking like she would soon pass away if somepony didn’t do something. I then tried to move closer to her. “My name’s Mad Luck. What’s yours?” I asked, trying not to scare her. She looked at me once again, a little shyer this time. And replied, “Tink… My name’s Tink.” I smiled happily hearing her voice being so shy. It was so relaxing and distracting from the painful bumps of the train. “It’s nice to meet you Tink. Do you know how to get out of here?” I said looking around the train only then to focus on her brown fluffy mane waving up and down from the bumps. She looked down then slowly replied, “You either die, or get bought… That’s the only way out…”
