I'm sure that rattle still works as a wand - just with certain spells and in certain manners. Like, I'm sure it'd have no problem summoning ghostly hands to change you once you've soaked those pampers. Granted, the hands probably wouldn't be under your control, and would instead take you into a public place to ensure you're properly embarrassed, but still! =p
