James is a large, but surprisingly gentle dragon who hoards silver, and thus makes an excellent butler for the Laval family, who's silver is only the finest and most beautifully polished, all thanks to James. God help anyone who touches his silver without his permission. He's made a small exception for the young lady with the teaspoon in his pocket which he allows her to play with, mainly so she'll leave the rest of the silver alone and not leave little mucky paw smudges all over his prized treasures.

Young Mithy took to James straight away, who's name came about when she couldn't pronounce his true name. The stoic James initially just tolerates the masters daughter, begrudgingly accepting her presence as she follows him through the house whilst he completes his tasks and polishes and takes inventory of his precious silver. Over time he gains an affection for the kitten, her playful and sweet nature slowly winning him over. They become fast friends as she grows to adulthood.
