Vilous Web-comic / Web-manga
Episode 3: At the Festival / 縁日にて
Place: Gold Ring
Timeline: Just before RC 28
Vilous comic/manga is made in omnibus form, for showing Vilous worldview along the history on Vilous Chronology.
Bakku and Elica have moved on from the fearsome actinia and are now enjoying the various shops and booths that are set up for the festival near the arena — many of them being food stands. Bakku is enjoying a sweet treat similar to cotton candy, while Elica has opted to snack on a skewer of grilled squid. Both are similar to snacks found at real-life Japanese food stands.
Some notes of interest: the skewered and grilled squid is called "イカ焼き" ("ika-yaki") in Japanese, and is a popular treat found at food stands in Japan. Also, some of the advertisement signs seen in the comic translate to "raw fish", "sweets", and "octopus and squid" — all popular to the people of Gold Ring during the festival! Are you hungry yet?

Hi there, and thank you for your question! I'm an official Vilous staff member and will answer your question for Mick. I also talked with
coju (also official staff).
On the language they are speaking: based on the current canon that Mick and Kiki have decided upon, the language you seen in the world of Vilous is depicted as similar to Japanese. It's similar to how you see English used in alien sci-fi worlds — in reality, it would be Japanese spoken on Vilous, but Japanese (and in turn, English) is written as that's what the Earthly audiences understand. And even then, much of the Japanese you see like on this manga page are written a little oddly.
For example, on the food stall that Bakku is buying the cotton candy treat, the sign reads something that can roughly be translated to "Cottonandy". Notice the "c" is missing. If written out completely, it mean Cotton Candy. But its original words was lacking one letter, though we can still know it was referring to. In the case of the Japanese, わたあめ was shortened to just わため. This is how Mick has altered Japanese slightly to fit her world.
Another way to consider it is how games like Final Fantasy X took English, but on signs in-game the letters are distorted significantly to look alien and different. You can see examples by clicking here.
Regarding the Sekir language: that is a fantastic project, and we certainly are supporting Mace with his project as a fan work. However, it will remain completely non-canon and as a thing made by the fandom. As our Terms of Usage state, all fan-created elements are not part of the official canon. But, fans like Mace are more than welcomed to be free to create and enjoy these entries. So while we are delighted by the creation and development of Sekir, please keep in mind that it's still not canon.

Oops! I mis-typed! To clarify, in reality, it would NOT be Japanese spoken on Vilous, but INSTEAD we see that Japanese (and in turn, English) is written as that's what us Earthly audiences understand. And even then, much of the Japanese you see like on this manga page are written a little oddly.
