This is from the latest page of the Book of Tenets, Lord Daryil's handy guide to being an incubus or succubus. In this page, Daryil talks about Clan Leaders, how ascending makes them so gigantic that they create avatars, sort of meat-puppets which they use to communicate with regular-sized folk.
Advantages include that a single Tri-wing can control multiple avatars, allowing them to be in several places at once, and that if the avatar is killed, the actual Tri-wing is unharmed. During the Dragon Wars the big disadvantage was that a suitably skilled Dragon could traverse down the link from an avatar to the Tri-wing and kill them.
The page had a lot of dialogue, and the speech bubbles were large enough that they tended to obliterate the details, e.g. the black gloved fingers holding one of Daryil's avatars in his palm. So here's a version without the text.
The published version can be found here: http://projectfuturecomic.com/tenets.php?strip=06 (Be warned, the previous page has violence as a reminder of what may happen if you don't keep your nose clean)
In the DMFA universe it's easy to manufacture simple materials through magic, so the shiny rubber gloves and pants of which Daryil is so fond aren't a huge problem to make. The boots are a little more worrying - if they're PVC or pleather that's fair enough. If they're real leather, that means hundreds of cows have been sacrificed to make them.

They did. I did a number of rewrites to condense the text down.
Originally the sombre-looking Daryil in the middle was saying "Ascension is a very big and dangerous step to take, and most who attempt it pay with their lives. The failure rate is over 95%, just in case you were thinking of taking your chances."
The last panel read "Tri-wings are huge, but can create avatars of themselves, puppets which we use to talk to others. This also means that if an avatar is killed, the actual tri-wing is unharmed."
I dropped the "ascension is dangerous" line and added something smaller which I eventually stuck in the second panel. I was then able to split the line about avatars in two, but the expressions no longer matched, so I swapped the artwork around.
