well in a "proper" magic system if they didn't use any magic at all until they were in their mid 20's, their body would start spitting out magic at random just to get rid of that stored energy. As is the case they use up all their power, they start draining life force (HP if you're a D&D fan), and could kill them.
mhmmm also storing extra energy in crystals, getting glowing tattoos, mana wells, and circles to boost magic power level over 9000! Not just "hey this kid is the chosen one, he can use endless magic", that stuff is lame, give a reason why he can do it, he's half elemental, or part dragon, something to explain it.
