I wanted to share a series of pics from Japan that showcase the cute, the wonderful, the weird and the WTF that embodies Japan with an eye mostly toward things of a furry nature. We spotted this in Ōsaka outside a Yoshinoya restaurant (we have these in the USA BTW, but they do not serve up spotted reptilian Mario characters). Yoshinoya is a gyūdon (beef bowl) fast food chain.

I loved this poster for a few reasons: first, he's adorable and he looks like a Space Muu in a little flying saucer in his little takeout container. Second, he's ultra-chibied to the simplest possible forms while still being immediately recognizable as a cute little muu muu with a ring in her/his nose. ^^

I can't read Japanese-- kanji and kana both that is. I know the kana pretty good but I'm still learning their intricacies for approximating foreign words and sounds. I cheated and used google translate which gives: "Take away is inside the store, I'm on your way" and the muu muu is saying: "The taste of Yoshinoya, also at home". Too cute. Too bad he's on the menu!! Poor muu...
