When I'd first rediscovered anthropomorphics in the 1980s (through comic books like "Albedo", "Critters", "Fusion" and "Usagi Yojimbo"), I had also learned of various independent artists who'd created and assembled fanzines, as well as individual works revolving around one character...
Such was the case for the adventure series "Rossweisse" by Shep (originally seen in 'hard copy', long before he began to post his art here in "FA").
In 1992, I wrote to him a fan letter, and even threw in a work of 'fan art' - incorporating not only his female wolf character, but his coyote 'fursona' meeting my cat 'fursona'. (Even though I drew the bobcat more often, I wanted to render a self-portrait in animal form that looked more like me, so I gave the cat eyeglasses, a mustache, and a clef in his chin.)
I thought I'd share this piece of 'fan art' with you - with Shep's permission, of course. I don't recall if his RL birthday was in August, but I just couldn't resist drawing a gag in which the cat gave the coyote an unusually-shaped present (with Rossweisse in the background, about to make the two characters in the foreground unusually-shaped, too)! Enjoy!

When I was young, I used to see this catalog of various candles in our house, and the sizes and shapes of them had me spellbound - especially the very tall ones. So, naturally, whenever I saw Rossweisse's helmet, I was always reminded of those extremely tall candles; and , eventually, I'd incorporated them into the above gag.
