I chose his name to be Egard because of 3 things.
1. Can't be Ragman because Ragman is a name already taken by a miniboss in Binding of Isaac. (Screw that boss on early floors. I hate him.)
2. Couldn't be Rags because a very popular character on DA took it.
3. Egard has to be an uncommon name.

The dark parts is actually leathery. It covers the joints and insides. They are sort of decayed so he uses leather like substances to replace the flesh in those areas.
