The Cac'uax is a desert dwelling creature that has mastered the art of camouflage. During the day it buries its body in the sand to protect itself from the harsh sun, and cool off it's exposed body parts. Its head looks like a rock, and is very hard to detect because the Cac'uax is nocturnal. Its exposed skin is thoroughly embedded with blood vessels too keep them cool. The head and tail are practically sunproof.
The Cac'uax needs to remain at rest for the most part because it's trapping mechanism uses a large portion of blood to stay erect. Its needleless cactus-like tail helps it prey on animals of opportunity. It often catches woodpeckers trying to drill holes for their nests. The flowers attract insects due to the musky scent glands at the center of each "flower". If it wakes up in time it will also find small creatures resting in its tail's shade. The Cac'uax will munch on just about anything that crosses its path. Its diet consists of mostly insects, but also includes coyotes, snakes, woodpeckers, owls, bats, jackrabbits, armadillos, and the occasional human. Cac'uax swallow their prey whole. If the prey is very large, its toothless bite is strong enough to break its prey's spine quickly. It has a very primitive (yet effective) bone ridge that assists in the breaking of large prey's bones.
At night they will move around in search of water. Cac'uax have bioluminescent pouches of bacteria that are primarily used to attract mates. This bacteria's byproduct is actually water, in exchange for some of the Cac'uax's protein.
Mating Season is in the cooler months of the desert, at night. Although the tail can be deflated, it is still mostly rigid and club-like. The males use their tails as weapons to show dominance in mating displays. The "arms" of their cactus-tail wrap around the main part of the tail to make it easier to carry.

Oh wow these guys are huge; I love the glowing parts of course; the hunting method is awesome using the cactus as a camo pretty much.
Also man I would be so paranoid of needless cactus if these guys were running around.
AWESOME ENTRY IN OTHER WORDS will be adding to the list <3333 thank you for doing this I hope you had fun!
Srsly I am surprised and very pleased with all the entries I have gotten.

^^ Glad you like him!
If you happen to find a needless cactus, without any sudden movement, look for a rock and hope it doesn't have eyes affixed on you! .... back away slowly.
I had a blast creating this bugger, I look forward to more challenges to come ^^
I can't wait to see the rest of the entries (I saw the three that you already posted and they're pretty awesome too!)
