Yes actually. Since her brother WAS part of a gang he knew how to fight. He taught her when she was younger because he wanted her to defend herself IN CASE a bad situation came up and he can't be there for her. He's always told her to watch out for herself and be careful. So he helped teach her how to fight and handle weapons.
No sadly. Her brother made sure any associates or 'friends' he had would never be known to her because he too was a cautious one. Working for the mafia he learned about how no one can be trusted. He worried for his sister and never wanted her to be used against him or to be in harms way so she doesn't know of any of his friends or associates. All she knew were from what she could find...which was hard in it of itself considering that her brother always destroyed evidence of where he'd been or where he goes.
