This is supposed to be shortly before Jet left and joined up with Ruby, Fluffy, and Requiyen. The territory Jet, Arkina, and Buck are from was raided and destroyed. Between the three of them, Jet was the most affected. He is the only surviving member of his family and was nearly killed, himself. Arkina and Buck didn't have as much to lose to begin with, they lost their home just like everyone else, but neither of them ever had any family or other close friends; their little group all survived, and that's all that mattered most to them. After trying for a few weeks to accept things as they are, Jet realizes that he just can't do it, and confesses to them that he's leaving.
