so this was one of my last weekend finds in the soil a Edward Confessor Type B coin maker WULFRIC year 1042-1066 silver coin and holy shit , almost a 1000 years old, and still looking this good is unbelievable!

it´s a old British coin yes, it´s been hammered in London between 1042-1066 some British auctions site clams that it is a Rare coin and they have sold them for 550 pounds , how ever in Denmark as a private person are you not allowed to sell a coin in that age there is a lot of laws here about artefact found in the ground with Metal detector, it will along with all the other silver coins found in the treasure be send to the Local Museum who then with send to the National Museum of Denmark where they will conserve the coins and maybe even put them on display one time even rant them out to other museums

The coins seem to be rarer in England than Denmark because of the danegeld that was paid. It is too bad that you cannot have the coin, but it is an important piece of Danish history. Congratulations once again :)

at that time England, Norway and part of Sweden was under Danish control... kinda crazy to think of now. # the coin history from Denmark starts in year 1000 to 1100 in that period the coins from England fate out and the first Danish coins are being hammered so those 100 years are critical in the History of Denmark, unfortunately not many coins are yet found in Denmark from that time period yet at that time Denmark had 3 kings

Fascinating :) It is hard to believe that King Cnut controlled Denmark, Norway and England. Wikipedia says that "It is estimated that the total amount of money paid by the Anglo-Saxons amounted to some sixty million pence", so I guess Denmark didn't need to make their own currency until much later.

i don´t think it came in as to if the need to make their own, more that the wanted to hammer their own coins instead of using others Valuta, and from what i found so fare this Treasure contains coins from Germany, Denmark and England, from 7 drifrint kings with more. list is here :

Hardeknud (1035-1042)
Kejser Konrad II (1027-1039)
Otto Adelheid (990 - 1015)

There might even be fore more kings, nothing is sure yet, as the coins and fragment is in the hands of the NM. ( National Museum ) there Experts will conserve them and keep them all safe
