It's a shame generation 7 didn't introduce any new Mega Evolutions. Or maybe that's for the best, I always thought Mega Evolution was a good idea that wasn't executed that well. It seemed like a good way to buff weaker Pokemon to give them an edge in competitive play, and some of them actually do this. Mega Mawile and Mega Kangaskhan are so much stronger than their original forms that they went from basically useless to straight-up overpowered. But Mega Evolutions were really only given to Pokemon that were fan favorites, not necessarily ones that actually needed it, meaning that the majority of Mega Evolutions went to Pokemon like Gengar, Blaziken, Salamence, Pokemon that are fan favorites because they're already strong, they didn't need a buff.
And if I had to pick any low-tier Pokemon to be buffed, I'd pick Jynx. For years everyone just assumed that Jynx was a racist caricature and made jokes comparing her to Nicki Minaj as if that's supposed to be an insult. Seriously, what do so many people have against Nicki Minaj? I don't like her music either, I'm not even really a fan of rap in general, but did Nicki Minaj cut off the entire Pokemon fandom in traffic all at once? In recent years though, it's been slowly becoming more and more common knowledge that Jynx shares more similarities with a Japanese folk creature called the Yama Uba, so shouldn't she get some kind of compensation for being misinterpreted for the past two decades by us stupid Americans? Shouldn't she get her chance in the spotlight? Prior to generation 6's release, a list was leaked online of Pokemon that had their trademarks renewed including Jynx. Every single Pokemon on the list got Mega Evolutions, except for Jynx. Freaking tease.
And no, if I miraculously got a job designing Pokemon for Gamefreak, I wouldn't actually present this picture as an official design, I'm not that stupid, this was just drawn to be sexy. Or maybe you found it cringey, I don't know you.
