The dull hum of a fan blowing filled the apartment, Azriel stretched as he walked to the kitchen, looking through the cupboards and fridge for something to eat. “I’m going now, I’ll be back later today.” Krystal’s voice filtered into the kitchen followed shortly after by the front door opening and closing.
Azriel stepped into the living room, “She left again?” He tapped his teeth together before grinding them a bit.
Amaya stretched, “Yeah, said she was gonna walk around the city, I think she said she’d try the training field today too.”
Azriel frowned, “This is what? A week straight? She’s been heading out on her own every day this week. What is she doing?”
“She’s a grown woman… digimon…” Amaya tilted her head to the side before discarding the distracting thought, “She can take care of herself, stop worrying about it.”
Azriel sighed, heading into his room and getting his shoes on, “I’m going to go look for her, I don’t trust her not to do something stupid.”
“Oh give her some credit.”
Azriel shook his head, “It’s been weeks since that shit show, and we still haven’t found any leads for her. You honestly think she wouldn’t try something dumb?”
Amaya opened her mouth before sighing, “Alright… just… don’t do anything stupid yourself please.”
“Hey it’s me.” He went out the door.
She let out a sigh, shaking her head, “That’s why I’m worried.”
Patamon bit into one of his pocky, “We’re gonna have to bail him out of jail, aren’t we?”
“Patamon!” Amaya gasped out, before sighing, lowering her head, “Maybe.”
Azriel took a breath as he sprinted down and out of his complex, quickly getting the renamon in sight. From there it was just a matter of keeping his big chested partner within sight. He chuckled, it still made him smile like an idiot, she was his partner. It was a dream come true, a partner digimon, with an amazing rack. Just another reason to make sure she wasn’t doing something dangerous.
He tilted his head to the side a little, noticing that she had a bag with her, which only made his concern grow. “Gah, she’s gonna be the death of me. She needs to learn some damn patience.” He let out a sigh, keeping a fair distance away, eyes drifting over everything as he walked, though he made sure to keep track of where Krystal was every so often.
Thankfully, a big yellow fox tended to stick out rather prominently, even with all the other digimon walking the streets. And it allowed him to just fade into the background, since he was just one of a bunch of humans. At least he hoped that was the case; he wasn’t exactly a professional at this sort of thing. Still, Krystal hadn’t noticed him, so he had to be do something right.
It was a bit of a pain to constantly adjust his speed though, whenever she’d cross a street he’d have to wait for his own chance to do it. That would put him farther behind her than he wanted, so he’d have to speed up, only to than slow down when she was waiting for another crossing. Then he had to stop in his tracks as she came to a halt and started talking up a guilmon… a busty female guilmon at that. In a nice tight t-shirt, with a lovely short skirt that hugged a pair of thick hips.
Azriel chuckled lightly, some scenes playing out in his head, some he really wanted to put to paper. But that would have to wait, his kitsune partner resuming on her way to wherever it was she was going. And Azriel was still wondering just where that destination was, what was the vixen doing for the past week?
…his gaze drifted off his partner as he walked passed an angewomon and rosemon walking the opposite direction, the angel digimon’s arm wrapped around the fairy’s waist. And while they weren’t the bustiest girls in the world, they had plenty in the hips and ass. He bit his lip as he watched them saunter and sashay… least that’s how he thought they were walking.
It was only after he had been staring at them for a solid half a minute that he remembered what he was doing. Turning around he tried to find his partner, but she was nowhere in sight. “Damn it…” He stomped his foot. “Shit, where did she go?”
“Azriel?”
He blinked, the voice familiar, turning to see a familiar unkempt hair of short brown hair, with a pair of dark green eyes underneath it. “Officer Carmine?”
“It’s just Carmine this time.” She chuckled. She was dressed in a black leather jacket, a pair of jeans with a simple white t-shirt, with a pair of sneakers. “Not on the clock today, thank god.” She sighed, “I’m still dealing with all that bullshit with the devidramon.”
A few seconds passed before Azriel remembered something he had wanted to say to her whenever they bumped into each other. “Oh! By the way, I completely forgot to say this at the time but… I called it. It was a giant dinosaur.”
Carmine blinked, confusion plain on her face before she remembered the interrogation from their first meeting, a loud laugh bursting from her chest. “Oh, my god! That’s the important thing to you!? Bragging that you were nearly killed by a third dinosaur?” She blinked again, tapping her chin, “Though I think devidramon is technically a dragon.”
“Same thing.” He chuckled and shrugged, “Big scaly bastard with an attitude problem.”
Carmine let out a chuckle, shaking her head, “You really are something else Azriel.”
He laughed, “I try my best.”
“So, what are you doing?”
He sighed, “Well I was following Krystal, but I lost track of her.”
The off-duty officer’s eyebrow raised, “Why are you following her without her knowing?”
He crossed his arms, “Yeesh, off-duty and you still give me the third degree.” He sighed, “She’s been heading off all day every day the past week… I just wanted to make sure she wasn’t doing something stupid and dangerous.”
Carmine just stared him dead in the eyes, “Stupid and dangerous.” She gave a dry laugh, “Your… worried about her doing something dangerous and stupid?”
Azriel sighed, “We still haven’t gotten any leads for her memory. I know how much it eats at her, so I was worried.”
Carmine sighed, rubbing her head as she averted her gaze, “Yeah, I can understand that. I’ll help you look for her if you want.”
Azriel tapped his foot before shaking his head, “Nah, she was so relaxed and… casual. I don’t think she was doing anything risky.”
“Alright, if you’re sure.” She adjusted her hair, “Well, if you have nothing better to do, wanna be a gentleman and escort a lady?”
Azriel chuckled, “I’m pretty sure you don’t need an escort, much less one like me.”
“Oh really? You think I could get better than a guy who shoots a dinohumon with a toy crossbow? And throws fence posts at a devidramon?” Carmine raised an eyebrow at him.
“Wait, so those stunts have gone from stupid and dangerous to awesome all of a sudden?”
She chuckled, “No, they’re still dangerous and stupid… but it does say a lot about your tenacity and courage.”
Azriel chuckled, shrugging, “Sure, why not. Besides it can’t hurt making friends with the chief of DRT.”
She smirked, “Yeah, don’t think I’ll bail you out if you do something stupid and illegal.”
“Oh, but you will if it’s just stupid. Good to know.” Both of them chuckled.

The noise of the city was at its noon peak, cars a cacophony of revving engines and blaring horns. Within the hustle and bustle, a food truck rolled its way down the street, coming to a stop at a corner. “Tacos! Get your tacos here!” The proprietor shouted, quickly getting a few people coming up.
After the first order was completed he held it out to the costumer, before a nearby pole suddenly erupted in sparks. The spectacle had caught the attention of everyone around, the sudden spontaneous shower, coming with no noticeable source, catching digimon and human alike off guard.
When it stopped the truck proprietor turned back to his costumer only to see the order was gone. “What the? Where’s the order!?” He looked around, noticing something else had gone missing, “Wha!? Where’s the sauce!? Who stole ma sauce!?”
Noticed by no one was the wizarmon running down the sidewalk, a couple of tacos, and a condiment bottle in his hands. “Running, running, running!” He ducked down an alley, jump up along a fire escape “Climbing, climbing, ALMOST MOST FALLING!!!” He juggled for balance, nearing falling back before he managed to correct himself and get to the roof. He panted out, taking a seat, “Sitting… sitting… saying what I’m doing…” he sighed, “Need to stop doing that.”
He let out another sigh as he pulled his cloak aside, stuffing one of his pilfered food good into his mouth. As she chomped and chewed he looked over the bottle he had taken. He gave a grunt before applying the sauce to the remaining taco, practically drowning the thing. Pulling his cloak aside again he stuffed the food into his mouth.
He got three chews in before his eyes went wide and tears started flowing, his face going red as he clutched his throat. He let out a scream, “Hot! Hot hot hot!” he ran around the roof, arms flailing wildly. He ran to the water tower, blasting a hole in it and letting a surge of the water pour forth, knocking himself off his feet.
When the flood finally subsided, he gasped and panted, wheezing, “These humans poison their own food!? What is wrong with them!” He lay there panting and grumbling, “When did this become my life?” He let out a heavy sigh. “Regretting life choices… regretting life choices.”

Azriel chuckled, taking a sip of his drink, “So, just to be clear here, you jumped on the back of a rogue flymon?”
Carmine smirked, swallowing her bite of her burrito, “Yep, grabbed an antenna and gave it a yank. Pulled him away from school bus, course than he flies up into the air. Not an ideal situation I’ll admit, but I’ve still got a firm grip on the thing’s antenna, so I’m keeping myself on its back. Its screeching and roaring as it flies all over the place, smacking into a billboard. I’m not even really thinking at this point, so I pull my pistol out and just start firing into the joint between its head and thorax.” She mimicked the action as she detailed her adventure, “I don’t even realize its doing anything until my gun’s empty, and suddenly I noticed the high pitched trill its squawking out as its wings come to an abrupt stop.”
Azriel laughed, “And you say I’m ballsy.”
Carmine chuckled, “I can remember the exact words I shouted out as I lost my grip on his antenna and started falling. They were, and I quote, did not think this shit through.” She laughed, “Thankfully I didn’t drop much before Stormy flew in and caught me.”
“Stormy? That quetzalmon?” Azriel raised an eye brow, “That’s his name?”
Carmine stuck out her tongue, “It’s cute!”
He rolled his eyes, chuckling and shaking his head, “So where is he anyway?”
“Being lazy most likely.” She chuckled, “He likes sleeping.”
Azriel smirked, “That definitely sounds very familiar.” He gave a snicker, “Just add in a love for pocky and it sounds like patamon.”
“Right, your sister’s partner.” Carmine laughed, “He was munching on one when I talked to them. You know, he had a few jabs for you during that interview.”
Azriel rolled his eyes, “Of course he did. Pudgy little ball has no respect I tell ya.”
“Yeah, I can’t imagine why.” She chuckled, “Sounds like a happy little home you’ve got going on.”
Azriel smiled, “Yeah, just gumdrops and ice-cream.” He chuckled, “Still beats living with our parents.” An inquisitive oh with a curious set of eyes prompted him to explain, “Mom and dad weren’t exactly happy when Amaya got patamon. Honestly, I’m pretty sure they hated digimon in general. Even if they didn’t, they were still just a couple of dicks and I couldn’t wait to leave.”
“Rough.”
He shrugged, “I guess. It never really bothered me, like I said, I couldn’t wait to get out of there. How about you? What’s your family like?”
“Nothing really impressive honestly.” She chuckled, “Simple parents, worked nine to five. I have a little brother, he’s a real tech head. He’s working as a techie for some big company.” She gave a shrug, “He was a bit surprised to hear I had a digimon partner when I first got Stormy.”
“Yeah, Amaya couldn’t believe it for me either.” Azriel chuckled, tossing his empty cup into the trash, “Honestly, it’s kind of insulting, they’re the kid siblings. You’d think we’d warrant a bit more respect.”
Carmine laughed, “Yeah right! The elder siblings getting respect, that’ll be the day.” She chuckled, tossing her own finished drink away and food wrapper away, “Ah, but still would run a gauntlet for them, right?” she held up her first.
Azriel chuckled, “I would never tell that to Amaya’s face mind you, but yeah.” He smiled, bumping her fist with his own. “We’ve got look out for them, even if they make friends with fat lazy blobs that do nothing but sit around eating pocky all day.” Both of them burst into laughter.
Then suddenly Azriel stopped laughing, staring past Carmine into a building behind her. A smile cracked over his mouth as he went to the door and slipped in, the off-duty officer blinking as she looked at the sign above, eyes immediately passing over the name to the maid café underneath the moniker. “A maid café? Those things exist? Still? Here? Why!?” She sighed, moving to pull Azriel out before he gave any of the girls inside trouble.
She was in for more surprise when she noticed all of the “maids” serving were digimon girls.
And just when Carmine thought she couldn’t be hit with any more shock, a familiar renamon walked up to Azriel. Her eyes were shut, a smile on her face, though the sheer tightness of her jaw betrayed that the smile was being forced “Hello and welcome to The Digital Haven, how may I…” Krystal opened her eyes, and while the smile never left, it didn’t prevent the look of abject horror from consuming her face. “Help… you… Azriel…”
Her tamer just smirked, “Nice to see you Krystal, so this is where you’ve been heading off to all week?” He grinned, taking in the view of the other digimon girls, a plethora of attractive ladies with various proportions. But they all looked wonderful, especially in their outfits. Carmine rolled her eyes, shaking her head and sighing. It wasn’t the digimon thing Azriel obviously had, there was way too many other problems and issues to worry about for this to be a thing. It was the maid thing, the really pig headed maid thing.
Krystal was struggling to keep the smile up, “Yes… I work here now. And I really need to get to work so if you’ll excuse me.”
Azriel grinned, “Oh well than maybe I’ll take a table, I think I wouldn’t mind spending some time here.” Krystal’s face drained of color.
Carmine sighed, “Nope, you’re providing escort for me, and I’m not interested in a maid café. Plus, I need to protect these girls from you, digimon are my jurisdiction after all.”
“I thought you were off the clock today.” Azriel raised in eyebrow.
Carmine smirked, “Never fully off the clock. Not if you’re good at the job at least.”
Krystal let out a sigh of relief, “Well it was so nice of you to drop by Azriel, please enjoy the rest of your day.”
Azriel sighed, knowing he wasn’t going to win this one, “Yeah, see ya at home Krystal.” He chuckled, “Feel free to wear the uniform home by the way.” The fox groaned lightly, letting out a sigh as her tamer left.
Back outside Azriel chuckled, “Well that explains where she’s been going.” He wrapped his hands around the back of his head, “Still managed to do what I set out to do today.” He grinned at Carmine, “Guess I should thank you, I would have just head home if you hadn’t come along.”
She rolled her eyes, “I don’t know if that’s a good thing after that.” She shook her head, smiling lightly, “I owe Krystal big for this, she could have kept her secret if it wasn’t for me.”
Azriel let out a huff, “I feel like I’m being insulted here. And after I agree to be your escort today. No respect, I get no respect at all.”
“Really? I can’t imagine why.” She let out a chuckle, smiling as she grabbed his arm and dragged him away to let his partner work in peace.
**********
Krystal sighed and groaned as she took a seat on the couch, a red hue to her cheeks as she covered her face, “I can’t believe you found me there! Did you follow me!?”
“To the café? Nope. I bumped into Carmine while I was out, we just happened to pass by at the right time.” Azriel let out a chuckle, “So a maid café huh?”
Amaya elbowed her brother in the side, “I’ll ask the obvious…”
“I didn’t know it was a maid café when I applied!” She let out a long groan, “It was hiring digimon, and I didn’t need any real experience. I didn’t find out until later what the job entailed.”
Azriel chuckled, “Well I think I found a new place to go whenever I’ve got the time.”
Amaya sighed, “No. Just no Azriel.”
Krystal groaned, “Please no.”
He sighed, “Fine, fine alright. If you’re both gonna be such pains about it.” He tilted his head to the side, “Though, I have to ask… why did you take the job in the first place?”
Krystal sighed, digging through her bag as she talked, “I don’t care what either of you say, ever since I came here I’ve just been causing trouble. I wanted to do something to at least earn my keep.” She pulled out a wad of cash, handing it to Azriel. “So, I got a job to help bring in some extra money. I still keep some for myself, but this should help cover my food expenses and stuff.”
A second passed before he took the offered money, an impressive amount of it for a week, she had to be getting good tips, “Alright, fine. I won’t argue with you about this.” He pocketed the cash, “You know, you could have told us you were working a job though? I was worried you were doing something dangerous.”
Krystal sighed, “I was worried you’d ask about the job, and eventually found out what I was doing. I already feel enough like an idiot, I didn’t want to feel even dumber.” She rubbed the back of her head, “Plus I wanted to know what I could make before I told you I was working, so I could promise a constant rent.”
Azriel sighed, taking and seat and patting her back, “We’ve all had to take humiliating jobs to start. Least the café should pay you pretty well for putting up with all the perverts.”
“Pot calling the kettle black Azriel.” Amaya crossed her arms.
“Hey, I’ve never been to any place like that.” He leaned forward, “I would have only gone to Krystal’s just to make sure she’s okay.” All three of the others just stared at him incredulously, “…and maybe I would do a couple of sketches of the girls. But I’m an artist, so that’s hardly surprising.”
Amaya sighed, rubbing her face, “Well it certainly wouldn’t be surprising, I’ll give you that.”
Azriel threw up his hands, “Like I told Carmine, no respect. All the hard work we elder siblings do, and we’re treated like this.” He sighed, getting up, “Well you ingrates, I’ll be back in a bit. I think we can treat ourselves to a nice dinner tonight, in celebration of Krystal’s first paycheck.”
Patamon let out a cheer, “Yay! With cookies for dessert!?”
Azriel rolled his eyes, “Yeah sure. Like you need to get even fatter.”
“I’m not fat, you big pervert!” Patamon shouted as Azriel slipped out the door, fluttering around with a huff.
