╭━━━━━━━━━ ••●☽ RELATIONSHIP ☾●•• ━━━━━━━╮
Adam and Luna represent the cosmic balance of creation and tranquility. Adam, as the Creator of the Universe, carries the weight of the cosmos, while Luna, ever serene and graceful, provides him solace and peace. Together, they navigate the endless expanse of the stars, where their love shines as brightly as the galaxies Adam once formed. Luna's presence helps Adam remain grounded, even as he exists on the ethereal plane of creation.
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◇◇◇ ━━━━━━━━━━━━╯The quiet atmosphere of the spaceship was interrupted by a sudden call, one that didn’t go through the ship's systems, which meant that the matter was of particular importance and confidentiality. Adam reluctantly approached the table by the window and lifted the lid of his portable computer.
"What do you want?" he asked immediately, knowing that no one else would contact him in this manner.
"You seem to be in a great mood," the caller smirked. "Thanks for answering."
Adam silently looked at the screen, waiting for an answer to his question.
"Oh," the man on the screen rubbed his face, clearly nervous and unwilling to speak. "Listen, I know I promised not to reach out anymore, but this is really serious." He briefly glanced away from the screen to type something at a nearby table, then returned his attention to the screen. "It's about the exploratory space station ‘Krit’."
A portable holographic module next to the computer began flashing. Adam picked it up, and upon activation, an image of the space station appeared before him.
Luna entered the conversation. She didn’t ask any questions, only nodded at the caller on the screen and sat on the couch. Adam joined her, although it was difficult, as the furniture on the ship wasn’t designed for his height.
"So what?" the lion responded indifferently, staring at the small station in his hand.
The caller sat down in front of the monitor and rubbed his face again, visibly anxious.
“Well, ‘Krit’ was sent on a mission to explore Andromeda. A pretty questionable project; humans aren't ready for this, you know that. It was calculated that it could handle the distance, but as it exited the Milky Way, communication was cut off. Well... since it wasn’t managed by Cerebrilium but by some small companies, they decided not to make a fuss and just shut the project down. The case was forgotten, the companies dissolved, but recently, I picked up a message through the cosmic noise."
He played the recording he had managed to decode. Amid the static noise, a woman’s voice could be heard asking for help, with snippets of events happening on the station. Her message was clearly meant for those overseeing the expedition, but the three listeners knew no one would help them anymore.
"No," Adam said flatly.
"Wait, wait," the man waved his hands. "I think the project was shut down because some passengers smuggled Ignis aboard, and that eventually led to what's happening on the station now."
The mention of Ignis piqued Adam's interest. He had encountered people who used the substance, became addicted, and went insane. Such human developments were concerning, but so far, there hadn’t been any real cause for alarm.
"Who knows what they encountered outside the galaxy, but now Ignis has sublimated from a simple substance into something else. Most of the passengers... the inhabitants of ‘Krit’ are dead or... I don’t know, I don’t know what happened," the man shook his head, trying to gather his thoughts. "The data I managed to retrieve from ‘Krit’ suggests that Ignis now possesses consciousness, or it’s a collective mind of all the station's inhabitants. I couldn’t figure it out. Anyway, it's close to what Albert was working on because Ignis allowed people to use energy, even if they weren’t suited for it. If the sublimation occurred as I suspect, then the events of Arkarum could repeat, and that affects you more than anyone."
The memories of Arkarum had stayed with Adam forever, as no one had come closer to dark matter and its control. Leaving "Krit" drifting in space was no longer an option.
"I could just destroy the entire station."
"I don’t know how many people are left, and I don’t know if there’s a way to help them. But if it’s possible, please understand my human solidarity—if there are survivors, they should be brought home. They agreed to participate in the expedition; they knew the risks. But abandoning them when there’s a chance to help... that’s unacceptable. You can do it, I know. If I could, I wouldn’t be talking to you right now."
Adam stared at the station with disdain, recognizing the potential threat inside—one that, if it fell into the wrong hands, could once again cause trouble for the Guardians. Even Luna, who had grown cold toward humans after Arkarum, looked at the hologram with concern. If the man had managed to stir such feelings in her, Adam would help. He had to.
