- the scales reflect a lot of light so it's actually not as hot as you'd think. It's mostly dependent on the ambient temperature though. The head gets pretty hot.
- it came out to be around $3000 but over 2.5 years so it was fairly manageable even for a grad student. I made every part except the wings and the eyes.
- It was made slowly lol. Most of the costume is made from sewing the scales onto a stretch fake leather fabric. There's more detail in the WIP blog linked on my profile.
- It's heavy, but not really noticeable when worn? If that makes sense? The weight gets distributed around when I'm wearing it. The most stress is on my shoulders from the wings. The entire thing is probably ~50lb.
- There's a hidden zipper on the front and slits cut for the wings on the back (hidden by the head). Because the tail is permanently attached it's a bit of a process since the tail needs to be bolted to the wing harness when putting it on. The hands and feet are separate.
