A couple of days ago, I was returning from lunch...on a bus (where I'm currently working is on a steep hill, but with frequent bus service during the day). And I notice the PSA shown at the top of the pic in one of the ad frames.
Now, I know coyotes have been infiltrating New York City from points north--it makes the news every time one is spotted. But this is the first time I've ever seen any sort of acknowledgement on the part of the city that "yeeaaaah...this is gonna happen from now on, we can't stop it soooo...get used to it"
So of course I had to do a pic of it. Impromptu style. As in, "2-3 days tops to shove this out". And who better to drive home the point than Wile E. himself? On a NYC Transit bus, no less.
Technical:
I've never drawn Wile E. before. Okay I once traced a pic of him from a coloring book, using a Santa Fe locomotive to chase down a traced Road Runner. But that was literally in the 1970's. This, however is no trace job. It is referenced from the image appearing on W.E.C.'s Wikipedia entry, but these are inks produced from a pencil sketch I did on the subway (they'll appear in a future Weekly Inks and Pencil post).
That was the easy part. Then I had to complicate it by attempting to draw the bus backdrop freehand with geometric shapes looking directly across at the bench seats. After wrestling with way too many layers than this pic needed, I finally realized that I already had a perfect backdrop--the night photo of the interior of an almost empty city bus I took coming home from work one night. In fact I was using it for color reference (facepalm). Had I did that first, this pic would have been up a day early. Okay de-skew the PSA (it was on a curved surface) superimpose it and the character, re-size the backdrop and done. Kinda--but I've written enough for now :).
Pencil on bristol, inked with Krita, colored and composited on photo backdrop with Micrografx Picture Publisher 10. Three layers not including attribution text, 70MB at full size. Posted via mobile.
09/14/21 addendum: I just noticed the two comments "Hidden by the Administration". I have no idea what they were.

Not completely sure about ducks (we sure got Canada Geese though--watch where you're stepping :D) but I have seen rabbits in a local park. Quite startled they were that I managed to get so close to them (I was testing my level of endurance for barefooting on sunlit bike path on a hot day. One can walk exceptionally quietly that way)
