Originally commissioned by someone whom wrongfully claimed rights over the character depicted in this piece. Now the piece belongs to the rightful owner, CressFox . They handled this extremely well, and I'm thankful that good came from this otherwise negative experience.

They are quite happy! They almost weren't-- But not because of the artwork itself, rather because they almost didn't get to see it! Apparently I was commissioned by a thief; someone who claimed ownership of the character and had me paint them. Thankfully due to the community's quick efforts, this issue has been resolved. I was informed of the theft, and the client's rights over the piece have been immediately revoked, then transferred to the character's rightful owner.
I must add that the rightful owner of the character in question here was very cool and understanding, and helps prove that good can come from bad.

Stealing characters just doesn't make any sense to me! All it does is stir up trouble. D: This is the first time something of this nature has occurred in my commission journey (to my knowledge, at least). Not a pleasant experience, I must say! Thankfully the owner of the character was very understanding, but they certainly didn't need to be.
Yeah, me neither. I don't know how I'd feel if someone do such thing with my own characters, especially if the claim it as their own. It's just not right. And it's good to know things worked out one way or another. The owner seems to be pretty nice for such understanding. And I bet the fursona theft received what he deserved.
