Hey guys!
So, I am back from Horror Con UK! I had an absolutely amazing time, and met some lovely people there - including this girl! I believe her name was Pandora, she's a 10 year old Chilean Rose Tarantula, and I got to hold her! (I also held a smaller tarantula who I think was called Chaos and was 4 years old - I forgot to ask what kind he was).
I am a major arachnophobe, but the second I saw the poster saying that someone had brought animals in, I said, "I'm going to hold a spider", and off we went. It took a second for me to compose myself before putting my hands out (I held the little one first) and then just... wow. It was incredible, they're soft and light and just lovely to hold! So, after going around the con a bit more, I went back to ask if I could hold a bigger one, and that's when I met this lovely girl!
Weirdly enough, I don't think I'm over my fear of spiders. Just tarantulas :')
I won't be uploading any photos of myself, but I'm gonna upload a photo of the loot I got while I was there, and maybe make a journal detailing the experience a little more - so keep an eye out!

The next time you're in a situation when you have the oppertunity to hold one, just do it! Don't think, hold out your hands, and ask the guy to hold his hand over the spider until you're ready to see it. Let yourself get a feel for how soft and light it is, and then have him uncover it. Don't stand there staring at it for too long before you hold it, but once it's in your hands, admire away! You'll be able to appreciate how pretty and soft and lovely it is when you're holding it for yourself, wheras if you watch them hold it for too long, you might think "Ooh that's a spider, that's a big spider" too much and throw yourself off.
That's how I did it :D and I am so, so glad I did.
