So me and
Blazeymix have been working on a little hush hush project over at our Patreon the last few months now, keeping it under wraps until we had enough content for the project to share with ya'll. I'm happy to finally say, we've got enough to share now and we're done with keeping it on the down low any longer! xD
The name of our project is Chronicles of Acorn: Rise of the Freedom Fighters! It is to be an 18+ HRPG game created with RPG maker, set in the world of Sonic!

What we're hoping to create is something along the lines of Final Fantasy meets Princess Trainer...or just H-games in general if you're not familiar. xD All Concepts, cut scenes and sex scenes will be drawn by me while Blazeymix is in charge of story, coding and level design. We're currently using a great program called RPG maker, which is very customizable and Blazeymix has tons of experience with it having created a few of her own games for fun already.

-It may be an RPG Maker game but we're goin all out with it! We want this to be OUR game! As it grows, we'll be fleshing it out into a top-rate professional indie level project.
-An original soundtrack composed by an amazing musician we've been working with over the last few months, who wishes to go by the name Cilantro!
-Princess Sally as the heroine! Along with her friends Nicole, Bunnie, and the shady Fiona.
-Tons of bosses, dungeons, exploration, complete side missions for your favorite girl to unlock some romantic scenes.. and powerful stories!
-Completely free-to-play, this is non-profit! We don't own the rights to Sega's characters and do not wish to make money off them. This project is simply a passionate way for fans to express themselves.
Right now, the game is in very early development and we realize it's going to be a TON of work to get even a working demo going (Which is all we're shooting for right now), but this is something we're both very excited to be working on! We're both huge fans of the JRPG genre and H-games, so we're thrilled to see what we can create with this! ^_^
Right now the game has been funded by ourselves and with the help we've got from our Patrons over on Patreon. So far we've been able to hire a few talented artists/musicians to help us out with things. Very soon we'll be looking to hire many more artists interested in the project, especially sprite artists who have done some animating work, so if ya'll are interested feel free to shoot a message to
blazeymix and ask her about signing up! Be sure to include some of your work in the message! :) Of course, it'll all depend on what we're able to afford at the given time, but we're not gonna be cheap about it if we can help it and we will pay to get the best looking game that we can muster! ^_^

We need original Sonic-esque battlers like Swatbots, etc, we need sprites of all the playable characters, NPCs, etc. We need to make original tilesets to replace the base ones provided by RPG Maker eventually, especially if we wanna make it feel like a Sonic game! Certainly. :) The game will start with the 4 main girls you see above and then we plan to release more content as we go, releasing the game in installments to the main story. As we release each new installment, we plan to add 1 new playable girl to the game. Each playable girl will have their own set of quests to complete which will help further the story, unlock sexual encounters for that specific character and find special items/uprades. There will also be male characters in the game, but instead of them being directly playable, they will take on more of a support role in the form of summons in battle. In future installments, we might consider making a few males as directly playable, only time will tell on that one. ^^
Yes, we're really fans of the classic titles of JRPG such as Final Fantasy and Chron Trigger, so we're gonna be taking it more in the traditional route of roaming with turn based battles. However, RPG maker is capable of a lot of customization and has a pretty large community of peeps working on new plug-ins for it all the time, so who knows what other options we might play around with as we progress with the game. :)
Hi there! I'll answer this! If there is a way or plugin to add a bestiary in the game, we planned on doing just that! We wanted each sex scene unlocked to be viewable by the player at any time, as well as music and enemies! As far as character interactions go, this game is going to have a full story. Nothing half-assed here! We dont want a cheesy porn game. We want something a lot more serious, but with a light hearted tone. In the game we plan on each gal having their own quest line in the form of side-quests. When you complete them, you delve into their story and get closer with em. With the finale being a romantic sex scene, kinda like Witcher or something! xD
This is getting better. I do have more questions but most of them is regarding post game content. So i am gonna be holding those questions off until later installments.

Yes actually, our supporters will have access to any WIPs of the art we create for the game, which won't be posted anywhere else. We'll be doing a few polls on there asking our Patrons for suggestions for the game, plus they'll get the chance to play early alpha and beta tests of the game as they become available. Eventually we'll be adding a tier where those interested can purchase a slot to have an original character of theirs included in the game as an NPC and maybe even a couple that will play an even more important role in the game. :)
Seems pretty awesome. Hope you don't get a Cease and Desist from Sega. Usually they are cool with fangames, but the sexual nature does make one worry that jt would be one they won't tolerate.

The majority of the romance is going to be optional side quests. We dont want to shove the sex in our players faces in case they prefer to play a Sonic RPG! Each girl will have their own side-quest line, and most will star a male as their opposite. Ending in the sex scene with the two of them.
Maybe a good way to tell the player ahead of time whether the partner will be male or female would be to have the side-quest start at the moment they talk to a character. This would allow the player to directly choose partners by approaching a character and then doing something with them.
Maybe the player can try using an item on them, or an optional "flirt" option could appear while talking to them. The character's reaction doesn't need to directly be sexual or romantic. It just needs to be a way for the player to deliberately start the side-quest. The quest itself can be about something completely different and fully story-driven, ultimately concluding with the promised sex-scene or romance.
The only other thing to figure out would be how to teach the player about this system.
Sally and Sonic are a typical and well-known pairing. So it probably won't surprise a new player to see them pair up one time.
It's also a good opportunity to show players what kind of game this is, early on.
So as a tutorial, the player could be encouraged to go speak to Sonic a couple of times. During the second or third time, the "flirt" option might appear.
The first time it's used, things should quickly progress to a steamy scene.
The second time the player tries it, the "quest" can be more involved, but still end the same way.
This teaches the player what to expect.
Then later on, when the player stumbles across a "flirt" option while talking to another character, they'll already have a good idea what to expect.
It doesn't have to appear in every conversation with the characters. But in moments when it does, it's an opportunity for the player. They get to choose whether or not to ignore it. Maybe a unique sound effect could play when the option appears to help the player notice when it's available and avoid accidentally skipping it.

Ya, we just wanna make a fun game. xD The story will take shape around whatever we come up with and Blazey has done some incredible work so far building the worlds! We're not rushing into anything either, we're taking our time and just focusing on a Demo of the first stage in the Great Forest for now. We're pretty clear on what we wanna try and make, having worked out a lot of the core game now, keeping it simple, so we're not gonna try to be anything more then just a fun fan made game that all can enjoy. ^_^
Also, I think your RPG sprites strike a pretty good anatomical balance.
The face is more than big enough to be expressive, and can effectively show facial expressions if needed.
The body is just large enough to efficiently imply a nice figure and show details without wasting too much artistic effort.
I personally consider this 3 head-height proportion to be ideal for RPG characters.
After all, it worked well for Chrono Trigger. So it will work well for you.
In fact, I highly recommend looking and how Chrono Trigger handled its sprite design, animation, and character posing. That game demonstrated all kinds of great ideas.

Browsing through the poses with this gives you a good sense of how they look in motion, and how the artist lined up animation frames with each other. In many cases, a character's shadow or their eyes will match from one animation frame to the next, providing a reference point that the rest of their body moves around.

Thanx, we're glad ya like it so far. :) You do seem to know a lot about the subject of sprites Humbird, this is all really great info! Me and Blazey actually won't be handling any of the sprite work, we're leaving that in the hands of more capable artists, which we'll be hiring throughout the project. So hey, if you're interested in lending your talents to this project at some point, just let us know. ^_^

How about during the battles whenever the character takes damage some of articles of clothing gets torn up/damaged and revealing some if not most of their "assets." Similar how Queens blade does it.
Also do each characters have a signature move or special attack in battle and does this apply to the male assist/ summon characters?
Why not have the characters call out the names of their signature attacks and ONLY their signature attacks.
Now in terms of ailments, cause there can't be any sort of RPG without adding a bit of twist and turns and challenge in it. Here's the following ailments that should fit in this.
Poison: inflicts damage to the heroine (female hero and not the drug) over time until Heroine HP has reach zero, thus incapacitating the heroine.
Paralysis: Heroine may not be able to attack again for certain number of turns.
Tranquilize: Heroine falls asleep, thus unable to attack for certain number of turns.
Charm: Heroine unable to follow commands and may do damage to herself or do assist enemies rather than defeat them.
Ecstasy: a curtain number time base status which by reaching certain number of turns will result of the heroine succumbing to full lustful desire, instantly incapacitating the heroine.

Hey there! I appreciate the advice! However my bf and I are very aware of what makes a good RPG. I for one love challenging RPGs and status effects. So rest assured, we got it covered there. ^^ Still, a few of your suggestions were good, and I'll be thinking about them as I make the game! The clothes ripping thing is definitely something we'd want to add later on as a major feature to the game, however doing this requires a LOT of sprite work for each character. Which means it's gonna take a lot of time to implement it. Still, we want to do features like this! Thanks for the suggestion.
I remember when RPG Maker was released for the PlayStation, long before things like the Xbox and GameCube existed, back when SEGA made consoles, and when Nintendo's greatest masterpiece was the N64. It was great. We didn't just make games, but movies with it. Sadly, they were all low quality when simple pixel sprites... as PlayStation did not have the means for users to do anything more with RPG maker, and RPG Maker did not either.
I've seen RPG Maker go bounds since then, RPG Maker 2 for the PlayStation 2 even added 3d capability. Now RPG Maker can do ANYTHING, and they are on RPG Maker 10.

If I had to pay $50 on Steam for a RPG game in which you can romance the female caste and have sex with them, I'd still like the focus to be the RPG.
I'd love quality dating and sex in the game, yeah, but the game mechanics and storyline would matter more.
Maybe I'm a gamer at heart first and a porn addict second... but I look forward to supporting this. If you manage to get your game for sale on Steam, all the better, I'll pay good money to play your game.

Ya, we're planning to have the game focus more on the RPG elements than anything else. In the end we just wanna make a fun game, set in the Sonicverse, with more adult themes in the story. ^_^ Also, since we don't own these characters, we won't be selling it for profit in any way. The game will be completely free to play! :)
I know I mentioned this publically before but your feelings toward this project, I've been sayin the exact same thing! xD We aren't gonna make a cheesy porn game/sex simulator, we never intended for that and I wouldn't put my hands on it if that was the case. As the programmer, director, writer, etc of the game I'm making sure the story and gameplay come first. You wouldn't even know it was a porn game if it wasn't for the sexual stuff! :P If you hear the soundtrack someday you might understand a bit better that we're very serious about this project and we want it to be more than your typical sex game. ^^
