Hello parakeets! Hello horsie! Hello thing-in-a-jar!

They all say hello back. Thing-in-a jar isn't far off. It's a baby shark that's been sitting on that shelf for like 10 years. I had either forgotten the species or never knew, but I decided to look into it and it looks like it may be the spiny dogfish shark.

Interesting. Where did it come from? And what's with the gator heads?

I have a large beetle in a case on my bookshelf. Ironically, that's the one bookshelf with next to no books on it. Mostly toys & junk.

I got the shark from a gift shop in Florida while on vacation as a kid. I actually have the dish it sits on filled with shark teeth I collected on my last visit. The gator heads were a gift from my grandparents when they were visiting from Florida as well, one was my sisters, but she gave it to me after a while.

A beetle, cool. There's been some insects I've kind of wanted to preserve, but reading about the process sounded like a hassle. Especially for things like moths. Not that I'm particularly into preservation and the like... But yeah. Bookshelf is mostly not books. I don't read a lot of books, I prefer ones that have useful information in them. Though I have read a fair bit of smut. :p

Shark teeth – awesome!

The big beetle I have was a gift from my dad; he bought it overseas somewhere. Someplace tropical, I assume. It's already nicely mounted so I didn't have to do anything :) It's ... kinda creepy, and it's not in my field of vision when I'm on the PC. I'm sure you can buy mounted insect specimens online or IRL somewhere. Museum, nature / science store in the mall, etc.

What's the deal with the mini helmets?

I asked for some medieval decor one Christmas as I was into that stuff a while back. I Still kind of am, but not as prominently. I also have a couple swords, a flail, and a battle axe.

Horses, helmets, weapons, dragons – Someone who didn't know better might think you were a knight in training.

I'm afraid with like a week of fencing training and twice ridden a horse I may make a lousy knight. Though now I'm reminded of a weird dream I had last night that involved a lot of sword fighting which is kind of out of the norm for my dreams. Like some kind of tournament and the winner got the opponents blade, there were a lot of weird blades. There was also some blade smithing... probably from watching the show forged in fire. Can't say there was too much sense to the whole thing. xp
