This illustration depicts Ace at the opening of the Gate of Body. Body is the magical channel that controls the physical link to reality. It can manipulate the user's own body, and is key in shapeshifting, as well as spells that involving healing, and a host of other biological mechanics. Body is a magic that all mages can control to one degree or another. Opening of the Gate of Body provides an exponential increase in Body magic. It is the first magic that every mage learns to control, and as such those who reach the ability to open their Gates, it is the first Gate that is available to be opened.

I don't pull it from anywhere honestly. The universe where the rules of magic that I talk about apply is created entirely by me. I suppose I have been influenced on some level by the mass quantities of fantasy novels I have read, but being an aspiring author myself, I set out to create something that is all it's own.
Not really related at all. Magic in this sense is something I created entirely for my own purposes. I cannot deny that that magical system has been somewhat influenced by my massive intake of fantasy novels and other fictional readings, but when I set out to create my magical system for my own novels I tried to do something different from what everyone else has done.
