Long story short, our cat is a mixed, indoor/outdoor cat. So, when he's outside, we put out some dry cat food for him. Our next door neighbor also has a couple of cats that are mixed, indoor/outdoor cats, and they'll come over and eat some food as well.

This of course, has led to a couple of raccoons and a possum having discovered the food bowl, and they'll show up in the evenings at various times.

This is the smaller of the two raccoons, and while he used to immediately run away if you opened the door, he'll now only go back a short ways, to see if it's safe or not, and he'll come back to the bowl if not threatened or chased away. So, tonight I brought my camera outside, and snapped a couple of shots of him, where he's only about 5 feet away.

He's simply too cute to chase away, and they don't bother the cats. They all pretty much just leave each other alone and accept each other being there. More than once, our cat was lying on the bench right there, while the raccoon was right below, eating some food.
