Red is an anthro-dragon from an ecclectic futuristic setting where society has access to space travel and various other gadgetry. He's a mechanic, engineer and pilot, and despite the ease with which he repairs and works with interstellar engines he has a soft spot in his heart for World War II era aircraft, particulary twin-tailed designs like the P-38 Lightning. As a young child he was attacked by bullies and had his wing membranes rather nastily shredded, losing his ability to fly. The Firefly quote 'you can't take the sky from me' strongly applies to Red, who found his own way into the sky when he build a P-38 style plane (with some modern adaptations) mostly from scratch and named it the 'Second Wing.' Like many of my characters he's friendly and kindhearted, if a little bit shy.
