I thought pepe was a pretty funny and interesting character in the political realm, but after seeing what is going on with him, i have some sympathy for him and the creator.

It was literally just 4chan trolling journalists. Just because some versions of Pepe were over the top or antisemtic doesn't mean the whole damn meme is racist. The Hillary Campaign and the media didn't get the meme so they declared that any usage of the meme was racist. You could argue that Pepe is the reason Trump won the election... because the media was stupid enough turn a dumb frog meme into a political martyr.

As for Pepe, he is alive and more powerful then ever... though defiantly more political thanks to Hillary and media declaring him as such. Hell, there were even Hillary Clinton versions of Pepe in with a red pant suit and blond hair. Yet people are still posting him and using him on twitter and 4chan in both political and none political ways
