Just been kind of thinking how I want to proceed in life among other things. Tera has similar thoughts.
A quick little sketchy experiment.

I can't tell you how many old people I've talked to that still say "when I grow up I want to be..."
Do you happen to know what your BMTI personality type is? for some people knowing that helps a lot with job options and choosing what to do for college.
I personally have three lifetimes worth of stuff to do and am trying to fit as much into one as possible, with my main occupation being a machinist.

While I believe mbti tests to have their flaws I still find them interesting, at the very least it gives me an opportunity to reflect. I've taken a few tests over the years. 3 years ago I was INTP, the one I took about 7 months ago placed me as INFP and just to see if that remained true I took one now and had pretty much the same result. https://i.imgur.com/HUgyYhI.png
Figuring out a career... Part of me has been aiming for self employment because social anxiety, but I'm sure it's something I could get over if I had to, it's not as bad as I've gotten older. Still, haven't given up on that. Doing free lance art is one option, though I don't see it as a sustainable path for me as of now. It just gets to be a real energy drain after a while and my brain doesn't always allow me to work on art when I want to (periods where I simply can't focus on the task thanks to good old adhd-pi) If I'd stick with art I might have to have some kind of project that can be crowd funded with something like patreon. Whether it be some kind of system devised around my usual art with perks, a comic, or something like a game (I do have a reasonable amount of programming knowledge and some ideas). There's also a particular kid friendly game platform I have like 7 years of experience of making random demos and half finished games on that has enabled some rather enticing monetization features in recent years. I honestly feel like it would be good to try focusing on developing and launching a game there. If I put in the work I know I have a fair chance in being successful. Then depending on how much I make and what work is required to keep the game active I may have some peace in working on some less financially assured projects. :p
But yeah... Always have more things I want to do than time allows. And a machinist you say, that's cool. Not my first choice, but I could see that as a job I could be content with. There's always some satisfaction to making something for me whatever it may be.

If more than a thoughtless insult I usually try to understand the persons point of view and their reasoning behind the criticism. I don't have to agree, but one persons point of view is no more valid then mine and In the end it may be useful, otherwise move on. That's more for ideological criticism, for anything visual it's pretty straight forward and as I understand there's some overlap between criticism and critique. I prefer the latter, but both can be valuable. You just have to filter out what is a matter of opinion and what may be something that can be improved.
"one persons point of view is no more valid then mine"
It could be though, couldn't it? Everyone makes mistakes of judgement sometimes, because no-one knows everything. Sometimes you would come across someone with a more valid ideology than your own (and of course, we all sometimes come across people with less valid ideologies than our own).

As far as I can tell, unless you get really lucky, the only way to make money from art is by drafting. Otherwise pick something slightly not annoying and go with it, keeping your hobbies as hobbies.
Maybe pick up web development (learn how to set up drupal or something more exotic like RadiantCMS) and some inkscape/vectoring skills (super easy) and do business logos, business cards, signs... etc.
I can't really think of anything else with the given information.

I actually have a bit of experience with front end web stuff. Graphic design is certainly not my strong suit. I consider myself good enough to make things that don't look awful. I'm sure I could improve with a bit of study and practice. My commission page is the most recent thing I've done. https://www.difetra.com/commission/
But yeah... I'll figure something out. I appreciate the effort in trying to help out. ^^
