"It's a simple mission", they said. "Escort the LGM to Nulpar. They are working on a recent discovery and some new tech and want a ranger to keep watch and protect them just in case. Easy stuff."
Booster was thinking back this way to his briefing as he and the LGMs he was escorting reached Nulpar, a planet completely empty of life (which was weird since it was perfectly inhabitable), isolated in a lost corner of the galaxy.
Among them, the Independent Thinker.
"Okay, we're good," commented Booster once the accomodations in the base were set. "So, what do we do now?"
The Independent Thinker smirked.
"Well, Booster, allow me to ask you a question first: remember what happened at Sankteas?"
"How could I forget?" replied the Jo-Adian, as he thought back to this incident, where Zurg's new model of death ray, instead of doing its job, turned him into an impossibly strong and powerful giant thanks to a rare gene he had.
"Did you enjoy it?"
A slight glare was the Jo-Adian's only answer. Everyone at Star Command had seen the recordings of the event, which made extremely obvious that yes, he enjoyed it a lot.
"So, you won't mind if I use it on you?"
"Wait, what?!"
In a dramatic flourish, the LGMs unveiled a laser cannon Booster knew too well.
"What the?!" yelped Booster. "How?! I completely annihilated it, and no data could be found about it!"
"You're wrong, there was a source of data left intact: the remains of your suit! They were bathed in the ray too, remember? I managed to analyse the energy signature, and from it, we found how to rebuild the ray!"
"Commander Nebula doesn't know, it's the one thing we didn't mention in our proposition," admitted another LGM. "We want to study its limitations and find an easier way to implement it than a big cannon before really proposing it."
"So I'm not here as protection, but as a guinea pig?"
"Well, you're the only one it works on..."
A huge grin split the ranger's face.
"When do we start?!"
"Right now, if you want! Test number 1: the maximum limit, in general. Please remove your suit."
Some moments later...
"We still haven't reached the limit?!"
"Well... Actually, according to the analysis and prediction software... there is no limit."
"You mean I could outgrow the galaxy?!" exclaimed Booster's voice through the radio.
"We mean you could outgrow the universe, and still keep growing!"
"And I thought outgrowing the planet was incredible..." stammered the Jo-Adian.
He indeed was now big enough to sit on the planet like on a seat, with bulging muscles and an impressive bulge in his speedo (These Star Command speedos were really ultra-stretchable).
"And you feel no problem from being in the vacuum of space? Not even some discomfort?"
"No, not at all."
"Clearly your growth also altered your physiology so you don't need air anymore. Probably it's the same for other needs."
"How long did you do these other needs? Eat, drink, bathroom?"
"Well, hours, actually. Since we left Star Command for Nulpar."
"All right, let's keep going for a bit longer to make sure you don't need these anymore too."
"Roger," smiled Booster as he flexed a planet-sized biceps, savoring the mass and power building in it and the rest of his body.
