anbessa's character, Anbessa. xD This was commissioned for the LOW, LOW price of $5 (that's 50% off the normal price, folks!). And, for a limited time, you can get a $5 commission of your own as well! Check this journal ( http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/760807/ ) for availability.
The last time I drew this character, I had SO much trouble getting him to come out right. BOY, it's AMAZING what you can do when you ACTUALLY USE A REFERENCE! xD The only part of this I'm not VERY pleased with is his hand. I suck at hands. And I couldn't find for the life of me a reference picture for a hand in that position (which I needed, because my arms are not that flexible. :P).
Mechanical pencil + openCanvas + $5. ;)

now, I'm truly impressed. you obviously learned a lot while your hiatus. I love it to bits, expression, colours, the clothes... what kind of underpants is that? :) no worries about the hand, maybe it's a bit too small, but otherwise it looks fine.
and, I'd like to have that sixpack for sure!
and all for $5, it's a steal!
*hugs*

Like I said. It is AMAZING what happens when you use references. :P For my own personal work I don't like to use them because it can be quite a hassle looking for a good stock photo, but I want to do a good job for other people. :) As for the underwear, I think he's wearing Fur Of The Loom. ~_^
*giggle* should have known. :)
you should put up a collection of interesting poses for reference, be it poses itself or clothes, or backgrounds, or all three. at one point you know them so well you could draw freely without any closer look at references, and it would look good. you need to know how something looks like, you know? especially those aspiring artists who start with cartoons or manga make their stuff look awkward because they don't know what the reality shoudl look like, and abstrahize from it. instead they try to copy, which seldom works out. I have seen somebody's manga-ispired artworks somewhere... technically good, nice characters and colours and so on... only the mouth was missing on them all. took me a while to realize that a white strip on top of the cheekbone was supposed to be the mouth. ~.~'

here you have a lot of (human) figures in all kinds of poses, and you can freely transform the perspective of them in virtually all directions. and I believe you can even print them out for your own purposes...
also, collecting photos from online catalogues of internet shops in clothes/underwear/swimwear, and fetish shops can provide you with a lot of references of all kind. ^^

Heeeey, that's a pretty handy reference! Nice! That's a good idea you have there. I just shy away from using the same pose more than a couple of times. Then again, if I'm doing a lot of commission/personal work, and I have a lot of variety, maybe a couple of similar poses here and there wouldn't be so bad. :P
