I always get the feeling that, after a job well done, Spy loses all sense of subtlety and restraint.

Haha, YES. Also, the whole "May I borrow your headset for a moment? 'This is Scout, rainbows make me cry! Over!'" nearly made me pee a little when I first heard it.

I didn't care much for Sniper until I heard the new lines. I figured he was a pretty normal, unthinking guy who got into a weird line of work and was an oddball among all the others. Like, the joke was that he really didn't see anything wrong with what he was doing. His "psychoness" was that he was dangerously oblivious.
But the new lines indicate that he's a hateful, misanthropic hypocrite. I'm not sure how much he believes he's being ethical or whatever and how much is just an act to keep everyone from bothering him. He tries to tell his parents that he's a good guy, and he's going to try to tell the audience that, too. Mental sickness? I think he just hates everyone, yet for some reason still feels like he needs to appeal to them. And the new lines make him sound like a rapist. O.O Like, seriously creepy. The joke might still be that he is oblivious...just now, it's harder to see how he could be.
TF2 characters are all different types of psycho. That's why I love them. They are so much fun to pick apart. (I'm sure the medic would agree. )
