Aside from bad fanfics and watching Hellsing, I've had a lot of free time to play Sonic and Knuckles. It has been forever since I touched that game. Oh. My. God.
I keep getting lost. I used to be good at these things, Jesus Christ. Sandopolis Zone Act 2 was so much easier to navigate before I hit an age in the double digits.
I feel sad.
I blame Sonic. He's doing it to keep THE ECHIDNAS DOWN. That racist mother fucker.

I found this more funnier because I was listening (and looking for) sonic music. XD
I was also planning on playing the game again too (on my emulator since I left my genesis in NY). I only like the first and second game, I didnt like the 3rd or after, only because it just felt like the screen was too cluttered w/ things..so many pixelated things for my eyes at the time, still kinda is since its just WWAYYYY too vibrant. holy shit, I nearly had a seizure while watching my friend play it on her gamecube on her HD TV OH GOD! D8

Because... Knuckles, really. I always have warm fuzzies in my heart because when that game came out, I was all excited over getting to play as SOMEBODY WHO WASN'T SONIC and that mentality has just... stuck.
Sonic 2, though? MMF. Not only can I play as Knuckles with the right hook up, it's (as you said) not as cluttered, AND? No Sandopolis. :O

game designers, in my opinion, ruined the sonic games, by making the game 3-D. i bet it seemed like a great idea at the time, but theres just something about sonic in 2-D that makes the game so addictive.
even now, with the video game world focusing on 'omg graphics that make me feel like im right there!!', people still go back to the original sonic games ^^

Knuckles. I thought he was BAD ASS back in the day, and I still have this soft, sentimental spot in my heart for him. Kinda like one would have for an old family pet. XD
And... hmm. I dunno. I don't think making him 3-D is the only thing that did it. If they found a way to keep the speed while doing so, it would have been alright. I think what suffocated the series was the addition of a bajillion characters, gimmicks that have no place in a Sonic game, and completely losing sight of what Sonic was in an attempt to win people over.
Like, you know, they forgot the fact that people were--and still are--pretty content with a game where you're some blue guy running left through a bunch of loops, chasing some bad guy that you hit 8 times and he dies.

I had the dumbest just yesterday in, well, Sandopolis Act I.
I don't even KNOW how I managed to do it, but the game looped back to the beginning of the level where Sonic falls in the sand. Only he kept sinking, couldn't get back up, and eventually--after going forward long enough--just fell off the face of the earth. XD
