Nothing hammers all the key points of safety like driving down a 1 lane dirt road at 90mph with trees on either side. Especially since the only thing preventing those spectators from certain doom is a flimsy strip of striped caution tape.
When everyone's going around in their little compact cars, sometimes you have to bring something a little more...unique to the race. A hot rod built on a 1930s body may provide enough variety...and loud noises (and no that isn't tire smoke :P)
