21 years ago at Cinnabar Island:

There once was a project commissioned by Giovanni aka leader of Team Rocket to create the world's most powerful Pokemon known as Mewtwo and we all know how that ended up in the process. Anyways before said disaster were to happened, there where 5 Mewtwo prototypes and 1 finished version. The five prototypes had gotten along fairly well inside their stasis pods communicating from via telepathy, until it was time for testing, the first mewtwo known as M2 Prototype 1.1 died from having his body being completely molecularly unstable and began melting off like an Ice cream on a hot summer and hence to be disposed. The second mewtwo known as M2 prototype 1.2 had an egg-shaped head, sadly enough he died from.... (what's the scientific term for this).... exploding his brains out from the sheer amount of uncontrollable powers when testing their psychic powers and hence to be disposed again. Only 3 prototypes remained Prototype 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 each carrying their own objective purpose. Prototype 1.3 being more of a Special attacker and speed relies more on her Mega Y form but somehow unable to mega evolve into X form which is where Lysandre aka leader of Team Flare showed up and commissioned Giovanni for M2 prototype 1.3 for further research. Giovanni agreed and M2 prototype 1.3 was transferred to the Kalos Region. A month later M2 prototype 1.4 being more of a fighter attacker and defense she relies more on her Mega X form rather than her Y form until the Headmaster of Team Cipher Nascour of the Orre region saw potencial on that specific Prototype for being the more aggressive type and asked Giovanni to buy the prototype, Giovanni also agreed and M2 prototype 1.4 was then transferred to the Orre region for further experimentation. 5 months there is M2 Prototype 1.5 being the balanced one of the two prototypes but her true purpose is being for breeding with the finished version in order to create a clone army of mewtwos but somehow she acts/behaves quite differently than the rest of the clones, it turns out that she has autism meaning to the rest of the scientists that she's broken and being useless to their project and sealed her in a cryo-stasis pod and moved on for the finished version without thinking twice the consequences of their own demise (and we all know what happened next). Scarlet was all alone inside the pod all those years until a certain cybertronian minicon discovered the nearly burned down mansion and rescued the poor prototype and was given a new name, a new allegiance, a new team but most of all a new family.
