When Brandon took the stone out of the seemingly inexhaustible supply in the treasure chest, he was struck by a burst of crackling energy which surrounded him in a cloud of thick, murky, black fog. The black, uncut stone he'd grabbed shattered into pieces and those pieces seemed to evaporate as they became the fog. Everything around him was a haze, but he felt the energy seeping into him until he felt he was going to burst.

Finally, the cloud exploded, sending Brandon flying into a wall. To his surprise he found himself looking up at the treasure chest again.

...Way, WAY up at it.

Brandon got to his feet, realizing in no uncertain terms that he had become significantly more... fuzzy.

As he was coming to this realization, he heard a voice in his mind: "You seem to have absorbed a huge concentration of Dark Eco. Well, back on the Monoprice tablet. Feels good! I'm wondering if the malfunctions it had had before were the result of a software issue. Either way it seems to be working well again, so I'm back in business! The business of catching up on commissions and doling out comics, that is. =)
