Classical interlude: Verdi - Overture "La Forza"
Time for another classical interlude! This time, it's Verdi's "Overture to La Forza Del Destino", performed by my group, the San Jose Wind Symphony (www.sjws.org).
I'm rather pleased to note that this recording was one of two sent to the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, possibly the world's largest music educator's clinic. Over 170 bands applied to perform at this very prestigis event, and we were one of 30 that were chosen, and only the second California community group in it's over 60 year history! I'm told we'll have an audience of over 15,000 people, all musicians, music educators, and composers from all over the world. And we'll be performing a piece with Dale Celvenger, principle French horn player for the Chicago Symphony. Talk about nervous!
