I think it would depend on what level of cousin. I once mulled around the thought that Kody and Nick had the same sire, but threw it out because it felt way too cliche and Mary Sue-ish.

One idea is that Nick's mother is the sister to Gideon's mother. Making him Gideon's cousin from the OTHER side of his family. How is that?
