Commissioned by
WildeCard we see his raccoon character preparing to perform a tennis serve...with added fire. He looks like he truly means to drill that ball right through his opponent's racket, assuming he or she is fortunate enough to get their racket in the path of this fireball :) For the first time in a while, I get to christen a sketchbook--this being the first image anyone opening the book will see. Not sure if the book is going to be sports-themed. My aptitude for drawing sneakers correctly came through with the classic K-Swiss tennis shoes he's wearing. Less clear is the knee braces or patella straps. Maybe he's pushed himself too far in the past? Or maybe he's taking preventative measures. I had never heard of 'em till this commission, and so I looked them up and "Oh, so they are a thing. never noticed before"
Second of two commissions at FWA 2017. I've done better, but it is what it is. It could be the size of the artist's alley (larger than most conventions' dealer room) making for more competition. I seem to do better at small hotel-based cons. Something to think about between now and Anthrocon, my next con.
Pencil on sketchbook paper, inked with India ink+paintbrush. Tweaked in Micrografx Picture Publisher 10
