Endless Realms bestiary - Vafi
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
The art director requested a few more baddies for the bestiary, specifically more demonic Koros, and asked if I could come up with a few concepts myself. This one's name means chaos in Old Norse, and as its name might imply, it is, at its essence, a chaos demon and the antithesis to the angelic Inexorable, the Aethir of Order. Vafi is less concerned with corrupting mortals or killing angels than it is simply revelling in the spread of chaos, although usually with an unnaturally malevolent glee.
It wasn't intentional, but this guy totally ended up making me think of if Leah's Diablo had a baby with Dark Souls' Manus :b

Hah, that's awesome! And yeah, with all the streaming energy and stuff from him, he ended up seeming perhaps more epic than intended, but I think that works into the demon's potential character. All chaos and flash, but not necessarily any beef to back it up, as it were. I spent forever on all his various spikes and whatnot, although underneath the demon itself is actually quite slender.
... But yeah, as for the end of all things, I have a demon coming up for exactly that concept, actually!
