Made this for  balorkin's recent birthday. An adaptation from the end of one of the short stories that flesh out the two main characters from the "Fool's Journey" universe. I read it a little over a year ago to prepare for a picture that involved these two as well, so I could get a better grip of them. The final exchange of words stuck with me for some reason... and I guess that's where the idea to do this thing right here first came to me.

I stayed as close as possible to the words, but took a couple of liberties with the actions, in order to fit the scene on one single page - and for the sake of some angles/composition. (And something inside me wishes that I had done the entire thing as a comic, but that would have taken way way way too long, haha. In any case it was a welcome change of pace of what I usually do.)

And, well yeah, of course only just now as I upload this I notice that Kostja is lacking his extra pair of arms. Gnugh. I blame the switching between between too many refs (and focussing on the old ones).

Anyway, pleased with the eerie look and atmosphere of this thing. As I said, it was welcome break from the absurdist wolf antics that I've been doing for the better part of the last few years now. And it certainly wasn't the last time that I drew these two. ;)
