Another great 80's film whose book stuck closer to the script than it did...

I had the book for Gremlins 2, but never the first one. I remember it had a lot of rambling thoughts going through character's heads that fleshed it out a lot more. They even had Gizmo flashing back to the mogwai village he lived in before ending up with the old shopkeeper. It was actually a really cool adaptation, but I guess we'll never know if any of the extraneous info in it was canon or not.

I seem to recall hearing somewhere that the novel adaptations of movies at that time were based off of mid filming scripts...

Which, if true, may mean that they could be treated as early version of the Directors Cuts releases. Some of the chapters in The Goonies novel adaptation tend to explain certain lines towards the end of that film, though not how the Fratellis managed to cross the underground lake.

Man, it's been way too long since I watched The Goonies. I can barely remember half of it.

The house from the film is apparently a private residence at the moment, and has posted No Trespassing signs on the fence...

The Jail however is currently a film museum.

That's cool. It's nice that they've saved a piece of the movie.
