Nathan Frost has been given a task. He must take four students from the Academy and find out if they have the qualities needed to serve the Talwyn masters and perhaps one day become one themselves. Lacking the time to assess them the way they normally would the review committee asks him to use more effective measures.
Note: This is the first time I've officially depicted the Talwyn master of Shadow colors. It is a darker blue than ice with a dark gray underlayer rather than black.

But hey, no pressure, right? The poor guy looks pretty nervous here, though from what I can remember of the story, he has a right to. I like how it contrasts with Topaz's more confident look. Not exactly what you'd expect from a teacher/student scenario, but it does flip the situation nicely on its head just a little.
It's nice to finally get to see him, too, and I do quite like the uniform. The colors actually look really good on him, and it's almost as pretty an outfit as the one Topaz is wearing.

Originally I'd envisioned the looks to be reversed, but either way it works. Nathan has one of the more dramatic backstories of the cast but he serves an irreplaceable purpose. I enjoyed getting to explore more of his life before the war, along with David and Lynn Everett, who also have a rough road ahead.
I do like his uniform, it was an exercise coming up with each of the Talwyn master robes and their colors. I know there is some room for personalization however, should one wish to tweak things.
