It made me feel really bad the way Yoshi repeatedly opens and closes his mouth in pure anguish as he sinks into the molten lava. But not bad enough to stop me from doing it, time and time again.
Maybe if he did more than open and close his mouth, I would've come back for him.
Oh god. What if he made terrible squealing noises and his flesh sloughed off? I think maybe at that point I'd just turn off the game, though.

in Mario 3, level 5-9 Mario not only goes right, but up at the same time, giving it a diagonal twist to going right. In 5-2 you go down for half the level. A couple levels in world 7 simply have you going up the whole way through. One level in world 7 requires you to get a raccoon tail to beat it so you do indeed go left in that one.
In Donut Plains' castle you are moving up for just about the entire level. Before you get to the part where you go up you have to enter a door to the right then another door... to the LEFT.
In Vanilla Dome 2 you have to grab a p-switch and go left after you hit it in order to get to the secret route.
In Vanilla Secret 1 you are going up the entire level. In fact, you have to jump off of Yoshi to reach the very top unless you're really crafty.
In Forest Of Illusion 1 you have to go left through a wall to get the secret route.
In the Forest Ghost House you have to find a door that takes you back to the start of the level, but above it, and you go left into the door.
In the Sunken Ghost Ship you fall straight down for half the level.
In Valley Of Bowser 2 you have to go left to yet again get another secret route.
