First penciled at FA:United 08 (August 2008), this product of the Mud Scout project was a long time in coming (because of a chronic lack of free time). Here we see the first Mud Scout recruit, "Carrie Bobcattie" modeling her uniform in an appropriate outdoor setting. Considering that she knows where her next step is about to land, I'd say she's fully gung-ho for the kind of adventure this group is going to get into. As time permits, other recruits will see example pics of their characters in uniform as I figure out how to draw them to the best of my ability. More info on the project.

This rendition of CB also benefits from my ongoing effort to readjust the size of the various elements of the eyes I draw, to avoid crowding the features together, add depth, and to accommodate differing styles on other folks' characters in future trades, cameos, etc, not to mention just plain looking better than the dilated-looking pupils that I had been drawing all these years.

Being I had nothing pressing to accomplish this evening, I did a little more then the typical single-layer cell shading, and well, this pic weighs in at 16 layers and 141 megabytes in its uncompressed version. The backdrop was added digitally once the character was completed.
