The lovely being you see here is known as Florence, at least as far as she's willing to say. She's been around for many long years, far longer than one might assume from her appearance, and is something of a mystery. All that most know of her is that she dwells in the Felton Underground, living alone and in peace, only accepting visitors of a certain variety: The terminally ill.
Florence is what is commonly referred to as an angel of mercy, a being that helps to end the life of a dying or suffering individual on their own terms, in a peaceful setting, with comfort and friendship on hand. She does this as a service, but not as a predator. She would gladly go without the life energies she absorbs from those she helps, but if she can help someone ease their departure she feels it isn't her place to deny them such a comfort.
She is technically what is known as a Colour, a rare and usually "mindless" alien presence that has only fallen to Earth in larval form in the past. Florence is part of such a creature, left behind for decades in a deep, black place in the soil, buried beneath dirty, stone and eventually water when the landscape was flooded for a reservoir. Early in life she made prey of fish and small animals, but eventually she did take human prey. She learned from them, absorbing memories and lives, absorbing their consciousness into her mass...And with it she learned guilt and regret. She learned what it was she'd done, and decided to make amends for it.
It was after the approach of government operatives with intention to capture the "alien creature" that Florence made proper contact with humans, giving herself up. She spent many more years locked away, prodded and experimented on, tested and studied. They made an experimental nanolatex suit for her, using technology harvested and reverse engineered from the Roswell crash site, with which Florence made her first humanoid form. The strange material is capable of tearing, if she tries hard enough, but otherwise acts as successful containment for her incorporeal being. In her natural state she is little more than colored light, but the nanolatex "body" gives her free reign to be more than just a baleful glow that can drain life. It lets her be a person, and interact with the world.
Allowed to live freely after S.3.R.A. cleared her, Florence chose to live in the Felton Underground, near other supernatural and extranatural beings. She feels at home there, in her modest but pleasant home in the Felton suburbs, with her gigantic fish tank full of feed fish, and her yard full of dark-growing supernatural plants.
If you'd like to ask Florence a question, feel free to do so below. She's quite nice, actually, if a bit...Alien.

Well, figure I might kick things off for questions. How often do you get out into town, when you aren't performing your "duties" or going to M.E.A. meetings? Is there anyone you're particularly close to or friendly with? And how long have you been at your current residence in the Underground? I understand it's very lovely.
Forence: Ah...Well, I don't get out very often. I sometimes go to a little bar I like, The Lion's Den, but I don't really see myself as the "out and about" type...I'm something of a homebody.
As for friends? None, really. It's hard to make lasting friendships for me...People get nervous about my nature, for one thing. I suppose I'm friendly enough with a lady named Mar. We met over a mutual associate due to my duties. And I've been in my current residence since 1992. It is nice, as far as I'm concerned. It's comfortable, and I like the nightblooms out front. I sometimes like to garden when the mood takes me.

Ah... Well, its a shame that you don't have any friends - you seem like a lovely person, though I can understand why some folks could get nervous around you. Then again, there are a lot of people with natures that would make others antsy.
I'm a little curious about what your neighborhood is like - curious about what Underground life is like in general, though I guess based on what you've said already that you don't get out much into it enough to say much about it...
There is something else I'm curious about, but it may be personal - feel free not to answer if you don't want to - but have your "mercies" only been human? I understand many extranatural entities are usually fairly hearty and may not be as prone to the same issues that would lead someone to require your assistance.

Florence: Oh, I've had friends. Few and far between, but one of the things I do value in friends is an open mind. It's very necessary.
I know enough about my neighborhood to tell you that it's quiet by any standard, surface of Underground. It's sort of a suburb, families and whatnot. One of my neighbors grows a lovely assortment of edible lichens and fungi that I like to supplement my mostly fish-based diet with, and there's an older human couple who like the Underground life who run an art gallery.
And...Well, no. Not all of them have been human. I've helped anyone who has come to me, and who is willing to embrace my methods.

Florence: Unfortunately, no. From what I've been able to determine (thanks to some help from S.3.R.A.) my kind don't seem to stick to a world for a prolonged period. There have been a handful of other instances of my "kind" on Earth, but they always end the same way: Death, destruction, the corruption of the area their "egg" meteorite landed in, and an eventual explosion as the matured entity returns to deep space via a great expulsion of energy that has been described as a "vicious and powerful wind". I believe that I may be what would be considered "defective" as far as the norms for my species, if you can even call what I am a species. As far as I am aware I am wholly unique in the world, if not the universe as a whole.
